If my math is right then you're predicting about a 70% YoY change in the holiday season? That seems rather high, even for PS4 standards.

TPP is the biggest thing coming to PS4 before 3 Sept, and beinbg multiplat it's going to have a slightly dampening effect on its hardware pushing potential. Persona is really only big in Japan, let's face it, it won't do much for PS4 outside of that. 2 million in Sept is the best you'll get if its pre-price cut, which puts it at about 27 million. If the price cut actually happens in the final week of Sept then you might get an extra 500K. So 27.5 million.

Also my mis-read makes 11 million between Oct and Dec highly unlikely. The mighty Wii only just squeaked past 11 million in 2009 (oops just realised I used the wrong year in my first post) over those 3 months. And that was the year Wii dropped to $199.


yeah i think konami and sony will push the phantom pain hard for ps4 and make the limited edition available in more regions. perhaps konami will cancel the 360 and ps3 versions like dying light and mortal kombat.

yeah but i'm thinking sony pulls the trigger on the $100 price cut right before the holidays start, so the impact of the price cut will be absolutely huge.

Huge is an understatement, I don't think any other console/handheld has ever accomplished such a feat.

Huge is an understatement, I don't think any other console/handheld has ever accomplished such a feat.


This  is the PlayStation 4 though. A console that always exceeds expectations. Math and logic shouldn't apply when discussing it's sales.

ah, i see. so a worldwide $100 price cut, ps4's first price cut, the major factor in why i predicted these ridiculous sales, will only get the ps4 like two million more sales. the ps4 is already up year on year right after the japan launch while being at the same launch price of $400 and you seriously think this prediction is impossible? alrighty then penguinz you're the expert.

Well yes... I do think it's impossible, unless Sony starts handing out PS4's for free.  If you could explain in detail on how the PS4 will go from 14m to 22.5m  units sold in  a year in a constructive manner, then I might think your prediction has more plausibility. A price cut alone won't do that.

The only expectations that matter is what expectations Sony had set for their console sales. I think it has exceeded their expectations.
