90% of Non-Nintendo games for DS are crap. There are over 1297 titles available for the Nintendo DS, Nintendo DS Lite, and Nintendo DSi as of November 22, 2012.

Don't make that arguement of quality.  Nintendo DS has far more games above the 80 percent ranking on Metacritc.

Also I don't think a single non-nintendo game on 3DS that isn't download only is great tbh

You buy a Nintendo console because you want to play Nintendo games (not only but most of them).

Nintendo games high quality, high rank and high sales.

I said metacritic, unless you think the best selling games are objectively the best ones, at which point ill direct you to the nearest COD game.

Also, plenty of 3rd parties were good on DS and there were far more.  On 3DS I can't even name 3 third party games i enjoyed

Also, strong 2rd post.

Exactly. You don't know what's coming. You don't know what's going to happen. So comparing 7 years of DS games against 4 years of 3DS games is  not only unfair, but premature. But honestly, that's not even my biggest issue. You aren't actually comparing the quality of the game library. You're just comparing how many games both systems got from certain franchises, which isn't really relevant to the quality of the library.

The 3DS has not only gotten a number of quality franchises that DS never got (at least in the west) like Theatrerhythme, Rhythm Thief, Code of Princess, Kid Icarus, Fantasy Life, Tomadachi Life, Codename STEAM, Monster Hunter, Persona Q, and a FRIGGIN ORIGINAL 3D MARIO, its also gotten LOADS of quality releases in the digital space, which was so poor on DSi beyond a few stand out releases it's not even worth comparing.

If you bothered to look the comment I responded to said the 3DS would have the same number of quality titles as the DS.  Also that goes the other way too, DS has Okami, Disgaea, TWEWY, Star Fox, Super Princess Peach, Metroid, Digemon also those dozens of casual games like Nintendogs, Brain Age, Elite Beat Agents, etc all count, they might not be your type of game but they excel in their genre.

And that comment is not necessarily wrong. Regardless, I was taking issue with you directly comparing franchise entries to make your point. The primary reason why the DS has multiple Zeldas, Pokemons, and Mario and Luigis is because its been out for so long. And I can name plenty of additional games to. Shinobi, Smash Bros, Resident Evil Revelations, Pilot Wings, Steel Diver, Bravely Default, Project X Zone, and Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. Not to mention numerous digital titles like Dillon's Rolling Western 1 and 2, Sakura Samurai, Ironfall, Fractured Soul, Pushmo, Mighty Switchforce, Fluidity Spin Cycle, and Gunman Clyde.

And hey, even if you don't want to include them, 3DS also has plenty of quality remakes and console ports as well, which are still quality even if they didn't come from 3DS originally.

In the end, I don't really think listing loads of games solves anything, but 3DS is no slouch in the software department. I'd say that 3DS's support compared to DS hasn't really gone away so much as it's moved to the eShop. I have personally enjoyed my 3DS and it's big library of quirky digital titles, remakes, and console quality retail releases more than I did the DS, which was a great system too.

WTF? It's like no one on this site knows how to read, JFC.

I complimented the hardware and how well OOT 3D runs and plays.  I got a 3ds from a friend, otherwise I would have never  got one . Im just wondering why there are literally no games to play on it besides the few nintendo games that are largely rehashes/rereleases .

....alright, in response to that I'm going to copy and paste a bunch of lists I posted in this thread, and add a few more games to them. Play some of these games, please.

Shinobi, Smash Bros, Resident Evil Revelations, Pilot Wings, Steel Diver, Bravely Default, Project X Zone, and Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Dillon's Rolling Western 1 and 2, Sakura Samurai, Ironfall, Fractured Soul, Pushmo, Mighty Switchforce, Fluidity Spin Cycle, and Gunman Clyde, Attack of the Friday Monsters, Tokyo Crash Mobs, Liberation Maiden, Galaxy Force 2, Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars, Theatrerhythme, Rhythm Thief, Code of Princess, Kid Icarus, Fantasy Life, Tomadachi Life, Codename STEAM, Monster Hunter 4, Persona Q.

What is good support? I agree there havnt been as many 3DS games released lately that I want (as I think Nintendo has been trying to focus on other things), but it still has many, many games to play on it.

As someone has said before in Japan there are plenty of games coming out for both 3DS and Vita, but most western companies dont care about handhelds for some reason. I guess they cant be stuffed making a separate port of a game when they can easily port the one game to many different consoles at once.

DS had a lot of support, but most of it was garbageware much like the Wii. The number of quality of titles should be more or less the same between the DS and 3DS.

This.

It's nearing the end of it's lifespan and thank god for that. I have a huge backlog to catch up on and there are still some heavy hitters coming out.

Okey, I will recommend you a bunch of games. +80 Meta as you said before:

2011: Super Mario 3D Land, Pushmo, Street Fighter IV, Mario Kart 7, Cave Story 3D, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked

2012: Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward (great VN, by the way), Kid Icarus: Uprising, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, Resident Evil: Revelations, Art of Balance, Muttant Mudds. Honorable metions to: Metal Gear Solid 3, New. Super Mario Bros, Kingdom Hearts 3D.

2013 (this year is... amazing) : Fire Emblem: Awakening, The Legend of Zelda: ALBW, Pokemon X/Y, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Luigi's Mansion 2, Etrian Odyssey IV, Shin Megami Tensei IV, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, Etrian Odyssey Untold, Steamworld Dig

2014 : Shovel Knight, Bravely Default, Super Smash. Bros, Persona Q, Kirby Triple Deluxe, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, Retro City Rampage

I'm counting 29 games 80+ Meta. I'm not including MH3, OoT 3D, MM3D, Starfox 3D, Pokemon ORAS because they are rehashes/rerelases as you say. And maybe I'm forgeting some games. I don't know if you try all this original/new games, but they worth a try. I play them all, except Street Fighter, not a fan.
