Nintendo hasn't won the US market since the NES. They don't know HOW to market in the US and frankly, I'm not sure they care anymore. A game like Splatoon, based on bright colorful ink children, shooting what is basically paint at one another... was never going to take off in the US.

I don't think Splatoon will have a problem selling to the Nintendo core.

I don't know how realistic it is to expect the game to sell "well," but I'm not expecting it. Tack a few asterisks on, and maybe "all things considered," but I don't see it doing very much.

Pikmin on the GCN sold .78m in NA. And that's a way more niche game than Splatoon could ever dream of being. Also, Animal Crossing on the GCN sold 1.92m in NA. Both new IPs, like Splatoon. It's not improbable to think that it could reach 500k LT in the US.

Yeah, I`m concerned it won`t sell so well in the US. The popular genre currently is the shooter genre, but not the kind Splatoon is presenting itself. There`s a lot of things going against the success of this new game, but I`m gonna hope for the best. I`ll be so happy if it sells well. : )

255 in us is probably higher than 100 in other places when it comes to total sales



Ltd predictions by the time 9th Gen comes out

Doubtful. Even Bayonetta 2 sold more than that. As did Lego Marvel Super Heroes, Skylanders Trap Team, and every Just Dance iteration except 4. Splatoon is an actual Nintendo IP that is getting a big push from them. 250k should be a piece of cake.
