I really dont see this gen lasting anywhere near what last gen did and sony MS and nintendo know that too. Especially MS, who seem likely to abandon the x1 and go pc. So I see no reason to hold back. If they can release it by E3, they will.

What is the basis for what is highlighted in bold?
Microsoft has already stated that they are embracing the 10 year model for the XB1 and the Playstation brand has stood by this model with their three previous consoles. So why would Sony abandon this model during the time of their most succesfful launch with the PS4?
Just because XB1 and the Wii U are lagging behind doesn't mean that Sony should start looking towards the PS5 much sooner than intended. Just look at the 6th generation for a great comparison.

It what said by others before but I completly Agree, Unlike the previous gens, This gen has added nothing new, all three just pumped up the graphics, and unlike before when consoles where at the top of the line and where the best graphics at the cheapest price, this time we dont have the best graphics but we do have the cheapest price. It wont be long untill any pc starts beating the consoles in power. I know powwer is not the main reason why consoles are popular, but when they dont do anything to diferentiate from the previous gen aside from power, then its a problem. Even phones and tablets will be able to do what the new consoles can do in 2-3 years.
I do get that sony is in the best position here and when morpheous comes out it might completly revitilese the console and add something that will keep it going for a lot longer. specially if it release at a low cost considering how expensive oculous is guessed to come to the market and ontop of a high end pc as well. Im gessing only the already very small master race will be getting into that. But that is yet to be seen so I stay with my short life cycle premise.
