Are games in the US consisted expensive to the average person?

People generally download games over here a lot in Australia because for example... Wii/Xbox 360/ PS3 games tend to cost around $80 to 110 Au dollars ($74.31 to $102.20 in US dollar terms).

 Australia = Europe.

I guess a lot of gamers download in Europe and Australia because they have to wait so long for games.

I will not be surprised when the USA version of FF or KH is released that 1/4 of the PSP owners over here already downloade it.

And I am sure if downloading games for the wii was easy we would have seen a lot of Europeans/australians playing Brawl at the moment

Ugh...

I was gonna post this, but I was too disgusted.

I cant believe that people would do this.

no wonder PSP Software sales are abysmal. Why download something you can get for free.

I speak as a person that buys everything, CDs, iTunes, and all games. I support artists/devs/studios/etc. It really isn't that hard.

People who download get a huge negative in my book.

It makes me sick, why do people do this?

Especially for great games. Do they not understand the money made goes back into creating new and better games?

Not to defend the practice of piracy at all, but I do have some aquaintenances that engage in what I consider 'excessive' downloading.  One of them had downloaded Bioshock last year just a week after I had bought my copy... feeling a little irritated (especially since Bioshock was such an incredible game) I asked him why he didn't just buy the game.

His response was that he already spends all of his disposable income on media and entertainment, and he literally has no more money to spend without dipping into either food or apartment rent.  At that point he says it's just a matter of which games he'll decide to buy and which games or movies he'll decide to download.

Not what I expected to hear, but I could believe it considering his massive dvd and game collection.  It did make me wonder about claims of losses by the entertainment industries.  This guy is probably in the minority of pirates, but he's already giving up 90% of his income to entertainment.  There's simply no more blood to squeeze from his rock, so to speak.

I have a feeling the truth of actual losses is a number somewhere in the middle - people that download just for the novelty without any intent to play, people that download because they're addicted and are out of money, and people that download because they're cheap and really are thieving.

I gotta say that I don't like piracy but when games start selling at over 60$ it's getting really ridiculous.

Unfortunately, to me PSP is stuck in a catch 22 when it comes to piracy. I don't support downloading games for any console...other than PSP. Why you ask? One reason...

...Load time!

I don't have a PSP anymore buy I used to have the original 1.5 firmware and I tried downloading a few games to see whats the deal and they load 3X faster. I'd pay the same money for the game to come on a memory stick if I could...

When the hack works better than the original version...someone really dropped the ball. (err...Sony)

Those are some serious numbers people.

Don´t forget that the battery lasts much much longer when using the memory stick for games...

What I can't figure out is why Sony didn't make the Slim uncrackable...
