Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo should wise up and turn The Last Story into one of biggest RPG franchises

Would rather they turned Xenoblade Chronicles into one.....oh wait...

The last story is an extremely boring game with hardly any gameplay. When attacking is done only by moving your character towards the enemy and he auto attacks and all the moves

The very first thing the game does is telling you that if you find auto-combat boring, you can swap it for a more traditional, button pressing system!

It made little difference wether you were hitting the button for him to attack or pressed a direction. Nothing on it will change. It needed buttons worth pressing. It needs skills, it needs combos if its aiming to be an action game. All you had to do were context specific actions.

Nintendo completely wasted the Last Story. It should have been delayed, improved and expanded, and released as a Wii U launch title. It could have been huge worldwide and done wonders for Nintendo recapturing the hardcore audience, especially in Japan. It also should have had classic FF7-10 combat to fill the needs of gamers who miss that style. But alas, it was not to be.

They could still fix that mistake and fund TLS2. Make it what it should have been and launch it for the next home console. They should contract Mistwalker to lead it and fund a team of skilled devs to build it, not unlike how they do Smash Bros.

TLS was not better than Xenoblade, however. I bought both at the same time expecting TLS to be my favorite but Xeno was everything TLS should have been and then some. But TLS isn't without value, and if Nintendo wants to be taken serious by hardcore gamers they need more than one great RPG series and more than one title per console.
