Forums - Sales - Is This The Year Microsoft Throws In The Towel On Xbox?

do they?  why should burn money if they could invest it in areas they could win like smart phones?

Who said anything about winning? You can still make a profit and not be the leader in the market. Granted, MS' chance of being profitable this gen have decreased significantly since the XBO's massive pricecuts, but still, completely exiting the industry at this stage makes no sense at all.

They probably have about the same chance in the video game market as the smartphone market, to be honest.

Just... what??

Unless Halo 5 crashes and burns (which is impossible), Microsoft isn't going to throw in the towel this year. As long as the XB1 sells decently in the US and UK, there's no reason for MS to pull the plug.

nintendo can, but m$ cant, they need to win or they are just missinvesting their money.  they are focused on a winner takes it all scenario.

and i think they can get a big chunk of the smartphone markted with the money they invest in gaming.   they allready have the best phones by far, they just need a bigger appmarket and a lot of ads.

No, not this year. They still have a couple of years to complete a full transition to PC gaming. This year they released Halo on PC, Fable has moved onto PC as well, Halo 5 has already been in development fir XOne so they are stuck with it, but it will probably be ported to PC next year. Gears of War 4 will probably be simultaneously launched on both XOne and PC, and that will be their last XOne game.
I expect Halo to become a PC only game in 2017, which is the year XOne will be discontinued (it might get pulled from Japan and mainland Europe by the end of 2016 already, as the sales there are dead for a while now).

Dude, just drop it.

It's apparently the year of predictions so off base that they could be considered trolling more than predicting.

Agree

I actually notice  something about some of these crazy predictions but can't say anything due to risking moderation.
