What really makes me livid is that Zelda U was announced right off the heels of this:

"Don't want to leave a long gap between announcement/release of new game types that would lessen the impact or allow competitors to copy." - Iwata

Fuck. Off.

Let's face it; Yarn Yoshi is this year's holiday block buster. Or they'll just delay Splatoon until November. Funny how losing one game can make 2015 look Wii U 2013 bad.

The worst thing is that this is after recieving literally no Nintendo Directs since January with the biggest Wii U game released this year being what amounts to an eshop Kirby game. Seriously, what the fuck is this year? What have they been doing? 

I don't think XCX is a poor man's anything. It won't push hardware nearly as much as Zelda, but it will be among the best quality games on the Wii U when everything is said and done. As for SMTxFE, they've consistently referenced it but nothing solid yet. That could easily change at E3. And I wasn't saying Metroid would come out this year, just that it could be the big E3 game in place of Zelda.

I don't think Yoshi is the big holiday title at all. In fact, I'd say Mario Maker or Animal Crossing has a bigger shot.

I agree about the Direct situation. That's some bullshit.

This doesn't bode well for Wii U sales. At least I won't be upset leaving my Wii U at home when I go back to school in the fall.

I won't be all that excited for E3 anymore, but I appreciate their upfront news and honesty with it even if it isn't what we want to hear.

This was their huge holiday title, the only title they could release this season that would push console sales. 

 

Sony can get away with delaying Uncharted 4 due to strong third party support. Nintendo couldnt afford to do the same with Zelda as they only have themselves as support so when they delay a game it hurts worse for them than it would hurt Sony or Microsoft delaying a game.

All we got this year so far is mini game collection in MP10 and all we've got to look forward to is a paintball simulator, a 2 hour long furry space shooter and a niche Jrpg. At E3 they better have metroid and Galaxy 3 to show or it will be xboxone and ps4 for me from now on.

Wild guess here, but could it be that they won't be showing it at the E3 to ditch the cell shaded graphics and return to realistic?

Seems a bit odd they would do such a big change like that after already doing so much work on it though. If they really wanted to do that they could at least spin off a part of the game with the cell shaded graphics and release that as like a sidegame or something, just so they get some return on their investment and of course it's another game which is never a bad thing.

They also said they wanted to cut developement time from 5 down to 3 years, guess what 2011 to 2016 is 5 years. Fuck you nintendo!
