Im not sure if it's illegal but I do believe it's looked down upon by the Islamic religion. I remember having a very close Muslim friend in High School and whenever we were able to sneak some Vodka from our parents, he would never drink with us and told us about how it's against his beliefs or something. I don't doubt those things actually happen, I lived in Israel for five years and while it doesn't exactly happen there, I was close enough to the countries that do participate in such things. However, the media makes it seem a hundred times worse than it actually is.

It's sold through a few restrictions, but it's definitely avalible. It's illegal only in Saudi but I don't stay there much. 

I'm stressing the fact that the media never sensored alchoholic use in both games and movies before so I don't see why The Witcher 3 might be special case.

The problem isn't from the censorshipboard in the Middle-East. Sure it played a part of the issue, but it's CDPR who censored their own game, I guess they were afraid of the game being banned, which is kind of werid since thwe 1st two games were available during their launch here.

Same here bro. PAL version from UK all the way. You are the 2nd one who noticed the Middle-East/Arab region thing. My bad :)

I don't mind talking about these things since they don't offence me. But it's the wrong forum to discuss it. I like to show other people that the Middle-East isn't that screwed like what the western media is telling them. Sure, we have peoblmes here, but we do love our video games XD

Japanese RPG are big here, espicially Final Fantasy and Persona. As for western RPG, Skryim and Dragon Age are the shit here. Mass Effect is also popular because it's banned, and anything banned is more desirable to buy here XD. And War of Warcraft is basically played the all the PC gamers here. As for the witcher, the game was released in some countries while banned in other, censoring Witcher 3 came from CDPR themselves. I guess that want to make sure the game will be released in all Middle-East countries instead of couple of them. This is the 2nd time a game got censored in and having a "Middle-East" version here, 1st case was with watch dogs. Middle-East is getting big on games these days, and publishers want to get there games instead of a ban. Same thing with those Gwerman version of games where they have to censor blood and violence for the german release. For me, it's ok if some players are more religious and don't want to see sex and nudity, but I'm one of those people who are against cenosrship. Why can't they offer both versions?? I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who wants to play the full game.

It doesn't sound like a big deal to be honest. Actually, this is a good thing in my case since my nephew is interested in the game too.

The market is full of NA and PAL versions, you don't even need to import one yourself. Even banned games can be found easily (The Order was banned in Kuwait).

It's a bid deal because CDRP censored the game themselves. This will open the door for more developers to censor their own games to get a Middle-East release. That's not good.
