Do these type of games not do well on pc? 

Not for the Frontier sub-series. Like others have mentioned. MHF is an MMORPG. 

Frontier = not the "real" Monster Hunter series.

XBox even had a MH Frontier game I think.

Frontier G released on PC, 360, PS3, Wii U, and Vita. Why would anyone doubt this rumor?

Also, let's not fool ourselves. MH5 will be on a handheld.

Or Nintendo's unified platform. So yep on a handheld, but you can also play on the home console.

Sure. Not a bad strategy. Releases would probably be staggered in Japan as with Portable 3rd and 3 Ultimate.

The ideal situation would be a 3ds and a ps4 release. 

I dunno. If this new Frontier game is the MH release for this year, MH5 might not be coming until 2016 or 2017. There's a chance the 3DS will already be on its way out the door by then. PS4 is the obvious choice for console though.

Monster Hunter 3 was big on the Wii. Monster Hunter Ultimate 3 were big on 3DS and Wii U. Monster Hunter 4 is very big on 3DS.

Monster Hunter Frontier is a mess. No one wants this game.
