Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo's new Ip's on Wii so far? (Comparing to Cube)

Even though it's really a spiritual successor to Excite Bike, i'll say Excite Truck. Oh and Donkey Kong Barrel Blast. That's in addition to the ones named already.

I don't think those two really count because they pretty much come off related to nintendo series created before the Wii.

Looks like you guys are having some trouble. There's gotta be SOMETHING out there, lol.

what about whole bunch of new ip's like rayman raving rabbids series, cooking mama series, trauma center series, my sims series(there are few coming to wii in 2008-09), pet somethingz series(and i'm not proud about it) and some that maybe be future ip's like zack and wiki, elebits, boogie, no more heroes.

Nintendo has tons of new IPs on the Wii; I don't know what the topic creator seems to be getting at. Even if we stick only to first-party IPs, you get a list that looks something like this:

Wii Sports
Wii Play
Wii Fit
Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree
Link's Crossbow Training
Wario Ware: Smooth Moves (new to consoles, no GC version)

That's six different first-party new IPs that have all sold well over a million copies. In less than 18 months. And the list gets significantly longer if you include third-party new IPs. Seriously, how much more were you expecting?

End of 2008 totals: Wii 42m, 360 24m, PS3 18.5m (made Jan. 4, 2008)

I think he is implying original IP, so Big Brain, Link's Crossbow and Wario Ware doesn't count.

All of these games fall under one new ip, "The Wii Franchise"

From the Legend of Zelda Franchise(Not a new IP)

Aren't there already Multiple other Wario Ware games? (Not a new IP)

That makes the List:

-"Wii" Series

-Big Brain Acadmey

Guitar Hero 3/ Smash Hits

Endless Ocean?

"Back off, man. I'm a scientist."

Your theories are the worst kind of popular tripe, your methods are sloppy, and your conclusions are highly questionable! You are a poor scientist. Especially if you think the moon landing was faked.

ioi + 1

__XBrawlX__, Big Brain Academy was on the DS before hand.

So let me get this straight...

  • All of the Wii series of game count as the same IP? I suppose I can accept that, even though Wii Fit won't play anything at all like Wii Sports.
  • We're not going to count games like Wario Ware and Big Brain Academy, because they were inspired by DS games, even though no one's ever created games like them for consoles before? OK...
  • Link's Crossbow Training counts as a "Zelda" game, even though it plays NOTHING like any of the other Zelda games? Now you're pushing it.
  • Excite Truck doesn't count because it's a "spirital successor" to Excite Bike, which was created over 20 years ago? Uhh...
  • I guess Endless Ocean doesn't count either because it's too similar to those ocean screensavers on PC, right?

If you're determined to narrow the range of possibilities over and over again, then yeah, the Wii has no new IPs. Of course, if we're using the criteria of "new million-selling first-party IPs that use no characters or ideas that have ever appeared on any previous Nintendo handhelds or consoles", we've also reached the point of a completely meaningless list. But you already knew what answer you wanted to get when you posed this topic, right?
