So let me get this straight...
- All of the Wii series of game count as the same IP? I suppose I can accept that, even though Wii Fit won't play anything at all like Wii Sports.
- We're not going to count games like Wario Ware and Big Brain Academy, because they were inspired by DS games, even though no one's ever created games like them for consoles before? OK...
- Link's Crossbow Training counts as a "Zelda" game, even though it plays NOTHING like any of the other Zelda games? Now you're pushing it.
- Excite Truck doesn't count because it's a "spirital successor" to Excite Bike, which was created over 20 years ago? Uhh...
- I guess Endless Ocean doesn't count either because it's too similar to those ocean screensavers on PC, right?
If you're determined to narrow the range of possibilities over and over again, then yeah, the Wii has no new IPs. Of course, if we're using the criteria of "new million-selling first-party IPs that use no characters or ideas that have ever appeared on any previous Nintendo handhelds or consoles", we've also reached the point of a completely meaningless list. But you already knew what answer you wanted to get when you posed this topic, right?
End of 2008 totals: Wii 42m, 360 24m, PS3 18.5m (made Jan. 4, 2008)
