If Zelda remains a girl, then hell yeah. Think it should be an option though.

Actually, how would people like it if you could choose the genders of BOTH Link and Zelda?

The Legend of Zelda is about a young boy in green and a princess. That's what ALL the games have in common, it's the staple of the series. Changing that would be stupid.

Also, imagine how the same people who want a female Link would react to people wanting a male Samus? There you go.

Though it would be convenient for those who already call the main character "Zelda".

But seriously, I don't see the problem in chosing a male or female protagonist at the start of the game, like how you could chose a male or female Robin at the start of Fire Emblem: Awakening.

One thing about Zelda though. She is a great character, but personally I wish we'd get to control her as well at some point.


The part about not being able to control Zelda is a big thing for me. I mean its supposed to be her legend right? So why isn't she ever a playable character?

I just think it is absolutely arrogant/presumptuous for people to demand that a creator change his/her main protagonist to fit whatever demographic they require.

In this case, Shigeru Miyamoto modeled Link after himself as a child and exploring his home's surroundings.
