II think if they really do join both handheld and console into one hardware like the "idea" that is being passed around. It will be properly supported. Honestly the only thing that would change is Nintendo has more revenue sources. The great thing about this partnership is that Nintendo would be working together with an experienced firm, and this allows them to still have resources available.

Hmm, if the handheld part of it is like a smartphone, I wouldn't be very keep on that... I need buttons on my console. I don't want the handheld part becoming a mobile station...

Here is the thing, I don't think they are simply going turn the handheld producing section of Nintendo into Mobile producing section of Nintendo. What will happen is that Nintendo will most likely take thinks like Brain Age, Animal Crossing and older Pokemon games and Pokemon spinoffs like Pokemon Shuffle and whatever and put those on the mobile section. Games like Mario will be shared on both. New Pokemon titles, Fire Emblem, Zelda in Handheld sense would be NX.

I have to run, I like the change, I hope they also expand to "media" as well. (Patnerships with Sony, Disney, and Other Companies)

Catering to both can be achieved.

Of course it can be achieved. Try explaining that to the real gamers.

Nintendio has done a good thing here in the long ru. The concern from fans is due to the concern that resources will be taken away from other projects for this, thus reducing the quality and output on their consoles potentially. Ofcourse the stock was going to go up, it'll make Nintendo more money. But until they can show to the fans that their actual output will not be altered on their main consoles, it's only logical that people would be concerned.

stock up was a given, I said so as soon as it was annoucned...but

23% is effin' huge.

This announcement increased the size of the company by a quarter just like that.

You do the calculation but basically 23% is like 2 billion rise in Market Cap. Now I ran!

It is huge. I agree with that (which is excellent BTW). But you asked why people were displeased with this news; I'm just providing you with my opinion on why.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I don't know why fans are mad... I'm a hardcore Nintendo fan and I'm happy because this mean $$$ for Nintendo. Oh well, the internet is so intolerant.

Quote of the week. Easily.

yay :D

"Advanced Battlegrounds: The Future of Combat (PC)"

LMAO!

They're scared and being over protective but it makes no sense.

The mobile market will in no way damage their console market and as long as they don't start selling fully fledged pokemon and mario games on phones it will have a rather limited affect on their handheld market which looks like it'll decline anyway. Mobile presence will just to ensure that Nintendo can do whatever the hell they want on their dedicated gaming platforms.

Yup, Aside hoping they do it right (logical feeling to have) this is good. Based on past comments they will probably use these games to promote the console games or add to them.

Bigger is DeNA will help with their online infrastructure? That has to be good.

Wow stock has exploded...And the unbelievable is that every second it rises!Nintendo did partially and not completely(fortunately) the favor of the f@cking market analysts,so the stock was expected to skyrocket!

As for the angry fans,why angry?Smartphones won't get mario kart 9,super smash bros 5,pokemon X2 Y2(Anywise,it wouldn't be feasible,with touch screen buttons :P:P:P:P)...

It will get new games feauturing nintendo characters...You(I) should be only angry if nintendo was abandoning hardware(It would never do it as it would be harmful for reasons that have been said several times, its hardware makes money and more than its software, obviously ;) or was giving its main titles to smartphones, nothing of that will happen!)

It is just combining its console gaming with smartphone gaming for extra money, also this can work as a great marketing for their console gaming!Nintendo doesn't cut something of its buisness,it expands...
Still the console gaming will be their priority...And no need to worry,it wont hurt its next home/handheld consoles as the classical/legacy games will remain on them...

Casuals aren't on smartphones? They are and nintendo knows what to give them I think...

P.s Journalism can be really bad lol,if you know what I mean...
