Oh yes, poor Sony... that huge company don't have money to sustain an online system, let's help them together. LOL.
And the fact that a few games out of hundreds don't follow the main statement does not make said statement false. Maybe we could say it has some exceptions, but false? You're really running out of arguments if you have to say that kind of things...

Anyway, I'm tired of this. Leaving now...

Microsoft fucked over console gaming by forcing console gamers to pay for server coverage. Sony saw that they were paying and stayed away for as long as they could, but eventually while they were losing money they had to find a way. I'm not excusing it but I can understand their logic. I've Microsoft never came into the console business this never would've happened. We're paying for everything PC gamers get for free on both sides of the Sony/MS spectrum.

I have a different point of view. What about Sony just waited until people got used to the online charge of Microsoft so they didn't get mad at them when they implement the same system? And to pretend the subject to be less "evil", years before that, they've been costumed their customers to pay for something really good monthley (PS Plus) to, in the end, claim that they were forced to do it and that online charge is just that same nice thing they've been paying with PS Plus when it's not?

Sony is no better than Microsoft. The difference between them is that one says what they wanna do without fear and without half lies even if they're doing something bad, and the other waits like a coward, letting others staining their hands and finally doinf the same thing claiming that "they didn't had a choice".

If Microsoft never came into console business, Sony would have no competitors and they would have become cocky (even more than now) and lazy, the online system would have taken more time to become what it is now and the 7th generation's first 2-3 years would have sucked so badly with PS3 alone...

If Microsoft never came into the business online console gaming would be 10 years behind. And you can't compare console gaming to PC gaming. PC is totally different. For example, there isn't just one major PC manufacturer. If PC was going to charge who would charge us? HP? Sorry I use a Dell. Dell? Sorry you use an Asus, etc. etc.

You're probably right, but they gave us everything PC already has for free. Its not entirely unique. We would eventually reached that point. You could probably blame Sony for that though, Microsoft wanted to partner with them and Sony turned them down.

PSN Plus was Sony's offering to the gaming landscape. Even Michael Pachter said after seeing how much profit Xbox Live made its obvious the market responded positively to it and even Sony could fall prey to it. It was profit exploitation and PC gamers cannot be forced to use it because they have open format. PSN was originally free so that tells you something about their initial thoughts. Businesses will do what the market responds positively to even if its wrong on principle (to those who are in the know) because in your community thats considered to be a good thing. Truth is subjective and in the console business vs pc world that is where the clashes between platforms. To business people anytime a large sum of dollars are spent they see that as a vote of confidence. PC realm is open format so you cannot force people to pay for online and the console realm is easier to funnel and extract dollars on people behind paywalls. You can essentially control them.

Nintendo could've easily put up a fight against Sony, but they are just ignorant. Nintendo profited on their consoles ever even when they were losing to Sony. Look up the history. They lost Square Enix support because they refused to up their formats. They lost out to Sony because they went cheap on format the generation after. Sony was dominant because they controlled formats and brought outside people into gaming who were interested in multimedia. Sony capitalized on the stupidity of Sega because they were out of touch (the American branch at least).
