Are you seriously saying that people only have a right to complain about the content on their game consoles if they are actively making games? That's ridiculous.

He's a journalist and a consumer. It's not his responsibility to make the content for the game systems he spent a collective $1,0000+ on. He spent his hard earned money on consoles he was promised great, next gen games for, and if he feels that console makers and developers haven't delivered on their promises, he has every right to complaint.

By the way, not only was the video decently written and cut, it's also completely right. If you look at the first year of the Xbox 360's or PS3's life spans, and compare them to the games we got since the Xbox One and PS4 came out to now, the content has been PATHETIC. Between these two systems there hasn't been a single next-gen exclusive killer app. The games are certainly coming, but unless we have a blockbuster E3 this year it'll still be at a trickle.

I don't believe that's what he said, and after re-reading it, that's not what he said at all.  He said if you have ideas on next-gen gameplay, why are you complaining when you could be banking royally, and actually doing something for the industry, other than complaining.  I'd be willing to bet about 99% of the people who bitch about 'next-gen gameplay', literally only have that phrase, as their concept for what they want to see.  It's a pipe dream, a buzz word used by people who can't frame their complaint in a more constructive manner.

Which is a ridiculous thing to say to a journalist, whose primary jobs are to report AND comment on the industry. It's not his job to come up with the ideas, nor make the games. Might it have been a better video had he gone in-depth in establishing what he's looking for in a next-gen game? Perhaps. But that doesn't make his complaint any less valid.

This has nothing to do with the PS4 itself. That is the consequence, not the cause.

The cause was that the technology advanced too fast and the market became cutthroat from one gen to the next. Nintendo gets the hate, but were right. The pace at wich they went is the pace at wich the market would have survived and adapted. Nowadays we got few publishers as a result. I wont say who i blame for the state of things because it will sound like i'm hating when its my fair analisys.

In this envyronment reviews from sites like gamespot became a middleman consequence. If they really cared, they would drop review scores.

Wrong.  Journalists aren't above criticism any more or less than anyone else.  It's not devs jobs to come up with games that specifically cater to one person either.  Maybe that journalist should take that into account?  If he's not going to contribute anything of actual substance in his complaints, there is no reason, at all to lend an ear to anything he has to say.  It's not constructive, nor is it adding anything of value to the conversation.  Doesn't mean he isn't within his rights to air said grievances, just doesn't mean anyone has to care, either.

On the Wii U :P

No lies detected.

PS4/X1 should look a lot better by years end, still brilliant choices if you're soley a console gamer.

On Wii U.

I have quite a few amazing console games on my Wii U, but I will agree that overall the gen feels like it's lacking something. I still don't think there are very many completely original concepts or ideas out there, or revolutionary games in general. Of course, I fully believe that will change this year.

I don't particually care for review scores, and we are seeing a shift to other kinds of reviews that dont't use this somewhat arbitrary system anymore. It undermines the subjective experience that is written by th reviewer, and wraps it under the umbrella of a digit at the bottom of the page. Though can you elaborate more on what you meant by that statement?

.- -... -.-. -..

I've enjoyed my Wii U so far.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

as a professional one should be able to keep grieving and other emotions at a minimum level and just focus on facts but that's not the main problem. i'm sure most of these gaming journalist would be able to do so but they purposely don't. it's all about creating as much controversy as possible just for the sake of getting paid. do we really want a fox news of gaming?

Well, that's pretty much all of the major gaming sites, unfortunately.
