Add a review embargo that makes it impossible for people to cancel their preorders and you can sell pretty much anything as long as it has good graphics. My point is that The Order 1886 would have achieved these sales, even if it were a two hour game with a 38 Metascore. |
If he is able to read and accept your comment for what it is... He will find a perfect (analogy?) explaining it perfectly. You are exactly correct, this game could have been a can of salted pickles, with HD Graphics and massive ad campaigns synthetic hype, combined with review embargoes = Sales. Unfortunately. This is the world we live in. I do not fault Sony one bit for this tactic. It's good business. The business end doesn't always agree with the consumer side. They have to find a happy medium. I think Sony has been fair and transparent so far with the PS4. I personally did enjoy the game a lot, it had slick productions values, graphics, and I loved the lore of an alternate history London.. I love the era, I've always loved (is it the Middle Ages?). Just that time in history. The half-breeds, the humans, that entire world really drew me in. Story was lackluster, but there was more to see than just that. I understand why people don't like it, and I understand why people do like it...
But moral of this post, is to say that I think you're post is exactly why it had the sales that it did. It will (and has) dropped fast. Still respectable numbers no doubt.. But realistically they were boosted by what RolStoppable said.
