Still $5 too expensive. You'll still need to pay for internet and by that time you would be paying almost the same as a basic package with HBO.

You lost me there. So $40 for internet + $15 for HBO now = $55. Whereas $50 for cable + $40 for internet + $15 for HBO = $105

Comcast had a $50 barebone  HBO/basic channels/internet package back when I called them, shopping around for promos.

Yea the problem with that is they always pull you in with a promo. So unless you plan to constantly swtich cable providers those promos are crap. As soon as your promo is over expect to pay double that.

That's interesting. I think I remember reading about that. I'm in a charter area and doubt they offer the same, but again, many of us avoid these companies whatever way we can. I had nothing but trouble with charter and would gladly pay $5 extra to never have to deal with them again. In this case though, that's not happening.

A new Apple TV costs $69 and you can probably get a used one for $30 - $50

So we should buy a new box for every TV channel then? The whole point is, that most  people have a streaming box or 7 already. The new HBO app was supposed to be convenient for those of us who are cable cutters. This is hardly convenient, to buy a piece of hardware for one app.

But you act as if Apple TV.. just has HBO Now.    it has a ton of other channels and its growing every few months.. Also has NetFlix, Hulu, Youtube etc..    So for $69 you get a box that does a good amount. If you have an iPad or iPhone it does even more..         This is most likely a VERY limited time exclusive thing anyway..    I am sure this will be on ROKU,  Amazon Fire TV, X1 and PS4 soon enough..   Before years end even..   or likely JUST after this season of Game Of Thrones ends..

UPDATE:  HBO confirmed this is a 3 month DEAL..  So by July we will see it on other devices..     (exactly after GoT ends lol)

He is not acting like Apple TV only had HBO Now, he is stating pretty much everyone already has at least ONE thing already, whether its amazon tv, roku, ps3/4, xbox, wii u, ect that is able ot play netflix, hulu, youtube, ect.

This is making them buy ANOTHER for ONLY HBO NOW.  Why ONLY, becuase their current box can already do everything else the Apple TV can do.

Eh I think I mentioned 8 times that I already have other boxes and a smart TV as do most people. Therefore, buying an Apple TV would just be for HBO now, so yes, I am behaving like Iapple tv would only add one app for me, because it would. Netflix Hulu and YouTube work on 4 devices including directly on my tv as it is. Heck, everyone here has a games console that they all work on. Then the other channels you mention all need a cable subscription which would defeat the purpose of getting HBO now anyway. Ugh! Why am I repeating myself? :p you know well what I mean and that I'm right.

Reports are stating that HBO said in a press release that is Apple devices and on PCs..

The whole point in this thing was to not need cable and still watch it on my tv quick and easy. No screen mirroring, no lenghty hdmi's. Maybe it is timed like one of the others said.

It sounds like you like the litle box from apple.. :)

Why don't you "hear" the other who say it's only timed.. and it's not exklusive either.. it will be on pc.. (not a long Hdmi.. but a cheap cromcast do the job)

"ontopic" it will not be that long.. 1-2 month max..

They were NOT going to price it LOWER then cable subscribers pay for it now..   $15 is about that price or lower. The Cable companies would have been pissed off if HBO did that, and they STILL are and will be for many years the normal way people access HBO.

And you are paying for Internet either way..   so not sure how jusy paying this makes it equal the same as cable..  This is for cord cutters.. People who aren't paying for cable.. and just have internet and do sevices like NetFlix, Hulu, etc..

What if HBO NOW is blocked on Apple devices by your home internet (Comcast)?

Currently, you can't watch HBO GO on PS3/PS4 at home via Comcast home internet because it's blocked.

HBO NOW is exclusive to Apple, but Verizon, Comcast, and Time Warner can block streaming via their internet service.

Comcast can't BLOCK it (The govenrment would be all over them)..   That was the whole point of NET NEUTRALITY. Thet cant block or throttle services that are legal.          This is not the same has HBO Go.. which is tied to your cable service..

So why is HBO GO still blocked on PS3/PS4 on Comcast internet?  It's one thing to pass net neutrality legislature, and another thing to interpret, and another thing to enforce.

All of these conspiracy theories. Hilarios.

Hbo is owned by Home Box Office Inc., an operating subsidiary of Time Warner. They are fine and this was all about money.
