The NPD battle between MP10 and Bloodborne is going to be very interesting.

I hope, for the sake of competition & the consumer, that the XBO's sales improve!

That's not how competition works, competition is not sales parity or being close in sales..... Competition means consumers pick the better product. Also PS4 is not in a bubble, ther eis always constant competition from various sources for entertainment dollars, mobile, other areas. This "Sales need to be close for competition" is a really bad argument. Didn't hurt the ps2... Competition is not always good either,  it brought us Paid online multiplayer.

No way will X1 catch ps4 in the US...ps4 won't be 399 forever and x1 will be harder to drop in price over this gen due to esram and using older ddr43 ram which won;t drop in price anymore. Especially with ps4 outselling it while being more expensive.

But even high end gaming rigs still use DDR3 for main RAM. GDDR5 is only used for the graphcs card. It's only the crazy expensive uber spec'd gaming rigs that use DDR4 in the main RAM. So it's not like DDR3 is rapidly falling from use, and even if mid-high end gaming rigs move to DDR4 for main RAM in the next couple of years there's still going to be a lot of lower end computers sold with DDR3.

Besides how much does the marginal moviements in price fort DDR3 or GDDR5 really affect the over all cost of these consoles. There are probably far more significant cost reductions for both sides that will allow for price cuts.

Yeah those can be bought for 300 bucks right?  GDDR5 will drop in price much faster it is hoe manufacturing works,  samsung already has made improvements in this area, DDr3 won't drop anymore. Being widely used is irrelevant, every PC has a graphics card anyway so it is also widely used. New manufacturing products drop faster in price new ones can even increase, do a quick search for dr 2 ram now... I suggest you look up manufacturing processes to see why GDDR5 will drop much faster then ddr3, in fact it already has.

Many other devices like mobile use GDDR5, it will be more widely used then ddr3, that's why ther was a big race from numerous manufacturers to win the war to GDDR5mass production.

Your last question I already answered, esram is an even bigger issue, I never said GDDR5 was the only aspect. Esram made MS use more die space and is expensive making price reductins , on top of ysing older DDR3 ram will make it harder long term to drop the price.

Competition is good, but that does not mean it needs to be close competition. Just enough to prevent a monopoly. A 60% market share would be perfectly health, the 80%  the PS2 had actually had negative consequences for devs with the PS3(difficulty to develop for) and gamers ( high entry cost, few games 1st half of last gen)

Sony's "lack" of competition in the PS2 era is what led them to be arrogant with the PS3 (launching at 600) they thought they would walk away with it no matter what. The tight competition from last gen led them to produce an excellant machine at a reasonable price with the PS4. MS thought they owned NA so they did all the pre 180 BS... soon as the PS4 presented itself as a competitor for the NA market they had to backtrack.

Disagree, that was Crazy kens over engineering the box, had zero to do with ps2's dominance as that was his vision all along.  Ps3 would have been the same had ps2 not been as dominant.

Yeah 2005 sony was something to behold alright ahahahah.

"I remember being at one of my first meetings at sony when they were talking about how they could work in memory cards to the ps3 cause as they said "It only cost's us 30p to make them, and people are buying them for £30" - Simon Miller (ex-sony employee)

Why are people putting Bloodborne and MP10 up against each other? Seems strange, they may both be exclusives on competing systems but they couldn't be more different.

Bloodborne is going to sell more surely?

Well both Bloodborne and Bloodborne Collectors edition are above MP10 on hourly atm, and monthly has bloodborne in the lead.... so yeah almost certainly bloodborne if we go by amazon.

^^ Yeah, given the install base, MP10 would have to have an attach rate over two times greater than Bloodborne, which seems incredibly unlikely.
