Forums - Gaming - What's your favorite game soundtrack?

Well, are we talking, "soundtrack that most compliments the game it's paired with," or, "soundtrack that I'd listen to independent of the game it was originally in"?

Either way, Akira Yamaoka's work in the Silent Hill games would be near the top, as would Mark Morgan's Fallout and Planescape: Torment soundtracks.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

Brawl easy. Super Castlevania is second. Brawl really has an amazing soundtrack.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

What's wrong with midis ....
i forgot to put it ... but Megaman's 2 and 3 have one of the best soundtracks ever, there's also Metroid and Zelda, geat soundtracks that don't have maybe the super mega ultra sorround that current games have ... but they are better than most games's music right now IMO.

Not that there's anything wrong with midis, but it's just that I grew tired of them. I left them back in my childhood days and grew to like better amplified music.

Quality of the recording or compression scheme utilized is of no consequence when comparing the actual songs themselves.  Case in point, Super Castelvania IV or Hanson on Blu Ray?

Also, the amplification has nothing to do with the console but rather your audio equipment.

 Like I said.

Oblivion: Elder scrolls IV soundtrack

I'm gonna go with a Landslide victory favoring Chrono Cross, almost 95% of the game's soundtrack was beautifully orchestrated Celtic music and it just fit the themes of the game perfectly. It was a game where you remember the music, and every track ranging from every theme was just perfect.

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

It's between Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy X and Silent Hill 1-4.

Excluding all classic Nintendo music, I agree with ChronotriggerJM about Chrono Cross' soundtrack. I bought it online a long time ago and it is still great. I also like Xenosaga's OST.

Including Nintendo music, it is hard to say which is the best. I like Mario music at times. Other times I like Zelda music more. Metriod has a good eerie feeling too.

Somewhere in the entire list I must make a small bit of room for FF7's Aeris' Theme.

Halo...
And I can't believe no one said the Kingdom Hearts. It's not my favourite but it's still up there.
