I dont mean to lump non-profit and for-profit together. They point I was trying to make was that they are both forms of advertisement despite what they promote. I thought Legends initial complaint was just that I had an ad in my sig, not necessarily that I was gaining something from my ad.
As for a text link, i just think that the pictures attracts more attention and thats what im going for.

No, you misunderstood me. The sites you're promoting get money and you get something out of it (since you have that referral link). It just confuses me that you don't get this.

Ah, awesome. Never tried that before :)
I'm now blocking *every* single image I see in any sig. If it was up to me, sigs would be text only, no links - and restricted to 5 lines maximum. Some of them are just ridiculous.
I tried for a while to PM and politely ask people who used animated gifs or vids in their sigs to remove them - but gave up after a while. I'm happy enough to block everything manually.
(the extra load times for each page is annoying enough)

My sig in most forums is within the size rules and it's not an ad to buy anything,it just links to a IPTV network that has tech shows and pop culture shows...Like Tekzilla and diggnation. I am just a regular member there in the forums....over there I have my sig as a link to VGchartz as my gaming collection.
But some MBs have the option for each user to turn sigs off if they wish not to see sigs so maybe that can be added for a individual user option in the profile.
I do agree however I dislike sigs advertising me to get "free stuff" or buy things.

So your not against advertising. Your just against advertising when someone gets a comission.
Well at least you got rid of two of the banner ads.
