There were 30 people in my GameStop when I got there (at 12 o clock on the dot) and about 20 more showed up by the time I got my copy. It was pretty uneventful though some guy did walk out with a Wii so they had them in stock, and the Sonic fanboy who kept squeeing at the reality of Sonic in brawl.

"I have Sonic stickers on my CAR!"
"I can't wait to kick Mario's ass with Sonic!!!"

I will be roffling hard on that for days.

Here's some pictures from my launch:

It's at a gamestop in a fairly popular shopping center in an area with several high schools and 4 colleges within a 15m bus ride (to explain demographics).  It seemed to be mainly a crowd of high schoolers and college kids, with a few older people and 1-2 kids (with their parents, of course).

There were plenty of copies of the game; I included a picture as reference.  After everyone there got their copy there were still those two boxes on the ground filled with the game.  The plan right now is to visit the same store tomorrow night to see how many are still left at the end of day one; I estimate about 75 copies were sold at this location for the midnight launch (based on the sizes of the stacks before and after the crowd bought them.  I am assuming that their whole shipment was out for the launch, so I am guesstimating at another 75 copies still in those boxes with maybe 15-25 left on the counter, leading to a total shipment of around 165-175 (maybe 200 if I estimated wrong?)  Not too shabby for one little store within 3 minutes of a target and a wal-mart, if you ask me.

Thanks for the photos alpha_dk! I did notice that they have Classic Controllers near the counter too, I guess those will sell well today :)

great post alpha_dk, nice to see how well Brawl is going to be doing in the states.

I wonder, do Nintendo of America usually give off the number of sales for either first day, couple of days, week sales for big games like this, Galaxy, Prime 3, etc? I wonder if we will get early sale figures from Nintendo themselves.

OMG! in the second picture the guy on the far left whos barely in the pic has a bright blue pen sticking out of his temple, that cant be healthy!

Insane numbers - Ninty *must* have shipped 1.5m-2.0m units (at least) for the launch window!

Only a few more hours 'till my store opens. It's going to be a blast.

I decided to go check, they told me almost as much as halo 3. They wouldnt say much more though since Im 15, anyhow alot of people were buying that game. I also saw some wii's in the store, and they were moving. I would have taken pictures if my cell phone didnt crash into oblivion.

DAMNIT I'll have to wait WEEKS for this game. Maybe even choose between an electric guitar and brawl oh the pain >.
