The 6 month chart is a bit closer, but still Nintendo is still the clear leader.
So, I'm curious. What role does stock play in this? Is that how they determine loss, by how much their stock goes down? I don't really know much about the economics behind this.

Look at the scale of the graph -- it increases exponentially. The difference between 50% and 100% growth is represented as 1/2 of the height as the difference between 0% and 50%.

I think they lost 245 billion yen, not 1 billion.
