Splatoon is out in May, so I dn't think we need worry about that.

I'm with you, I wanna see new stuff, Mario Maker can go to hell.

Well, that being said, I think we both would be okay with them showing stuff we know very little about too. Like Legend Of Zelda Wii U would be fine due to us not knowing hardly anything about it. Or The Devil's Third would be fine due ot them overhauling everything and supposedly adding so many modes to the game that it (supposedly) has the most modes of any video game to date. Yet again, another title we know very little about in its current form. Or Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem being we've seen nothing but the concept video two years ago.

Yeah I'd be fine with that, I just want as much new stuff as possible.

What about it would be complicated? There's no complex AI, physics, or graphics, almost all the assets already exist...

I just feel like they've dug themselves a hole by making it so that different object combinations create new objects, and the amount of variety in level designs we've seen come out of the latest trailers is alarmingly indepth; maybe I am overestimating things because I see it with a design bias so maybe I am underestimating the value of pre-existant resources from a development stand point but designing stuff around the idea that users can design their own stuff while making it intuitive and flexible is really freaking hard.

Personally I'd feel more confident working on a massive RPG than on Mario Maker, based on my own design experience. Granted I admit I could be wrong because my current game design skills in general are questionable, but I'm working on that almost everyday and am a qualified website/GUI designer.

Mi wife is a programmer/designer and she believes Mario Maker must be a hell to develop.

I wouldn't mind seeing Nintendo's new handheld.

LOL no, the new 3ds just launched and they wont kill the 3ds' legs. NO new Hardware should be shown this year.

The DSI XL was released in 2010, the same year the 3DS was announced.

3DS is extremely underpowered and its sales don't justify such a long life cycle. 5 years is more than long enough, only one year shorter than the DS.

Iwata just stated that 3DS had a poor holiday season in the west last year due to people waiting for New 3DS, if the announce the next handheld this year they are going to see very poor 3DS in the 2nd half of this year.

I agree that it's successor will release next year, I'm thinking a reveal in a Nintendo Direct in January followed by a Spring/Summer release.

I don't think that the biggest game company in the world is gonna spend so much time on a level editor...

I don't know what to expect to be honest, other than some Zelda and Xenoblade footage. Perhaps Retro will be ready to show something new?
