Yeah I remember that post and I agree that you overreacted.

I think they should go. The hot topics section is dominated by Sony and Nintendo threads because their nation threads are not that active. I also don't think they are very welcoming to people who are not big fans of a certain console and you often see bullying.
The forum is better off without them.
The more I read in this thread, the more I think that the Nation threads should go. Even reading the attitudes of some Nation thread frequenters make the threads seem like they often run counter to the point of Discussion Boards...discussion.

See this is something that transpired 6 months ago. I feel I've changed a lot since 6 months ago in terms of how I present myself on this forum. And yes I made the mistake in NOT replying to you when in fact I should have. But you not feeling welcomed from what I've gleaned, seems to have been from this one isolated incident. And again I think the biggest thing that you said is that "my summation of the rant was incorrect." My summation of the rant was/is my opinion of what I saw from AJ on TR, how can my own opinion be wrong? You're free to disagree with it as are others, but it's m own opinion. The nature of these threads are more positive. If I went into Nintedomination and starting complaining about lack of games, 3rd party, or online infrastucture, I'd be either ignored, or moderated (as I should be) for going into a place to start trouble. Now I'm not saying negative opinions are completely dismissed. I provided an example from XBE above where people rejected the idea of Halo 5's MP and that eld into healthy debate within the community. I've seen Seece get annoyed with Xbox's IPs such as Halo, Gears, and Forza being too careful and/or conservative. A lot of people want Japanese games in Empire, and I've seen Angelus voice his own opinion against that. I understand not wanting a hive mind, but in terms of Empire I feel it's not like that. Yes, most of the time we will agree, but that's because we are all part of a sub community that shares common interests. But again there have been times where we disagree with one another. |
yeah i agree Slade, which is why i said i take responsibility for also not feeling welcome. Something i do try and work on.
I agree that my approach on your post was wrong. It was too strong. But i dont think it warranted not being responded to and i certainly dont think it warranted any of the other stuff that happened.
I also agree that the nation threads have become a lot more positive in recent times. Which is why i dont think they should be completely removed. But i have also seen others go through the same thing, which has also happened in the Vita thread, PSNation thread. While i do have experiences it is not the only contributor to the issues i have with the nation thread.
I didnt mean to bring up old stuff, but i felt it was necessary to back up what im saying and avoid any confusion.

This makes no sense...
If you're not a fan of a certain console--> then why are you posting in that thread specific console. That shows you have an agenda going into it if anything.
And bullying, where? Give me a break. And no the forum is not better off without them. I don't even think the point of this thread is to eliminate the Nation threads rather to talk about issues. Getting rid of a Nation thread RIGHT NOW, would be more detrimental to the site than anything.
Do people honestly think if you were to get rid of the Nation threads, that good discussion will come from it? No I'll tell you what it would be like, it will be like the Order threads. Page after page of people defending the product, of hating on it while showing an agenda, and just overall garbage.

Maybe some people just like discussing games...whats wrong with that? If I see a piece of news that I want to talk about, why should I not find a place to do so, even if that means going into a Nation thread?

I wasnt warned either, i checked with the mods at the time. I dont believe it was an overeaction on my part, me leaving was due to a combination of things, that i mentioned in my PM to Kresnik at the time. It was not simply because of that incident, it did play a role though. Like i said before please dont put words in my mouth and dont project what you think i feel about something on to me.
I think i made it clear as to why I am discussing it here and its relevance to the thread.
Nation threads suck and I don't plan on participating in these threads ever again.
I just found my first post in the Nintendomination thread...
"Giving out fake ranks just shows how boring the Nintendo forum section is on VGC currently."

Go view Kerotans history in his short span on this website and you will know why people are hesitant with him. He makes it out like we made him something he isnt. He did it to himself. Lets go ahead and look at his mod history in his 4 months of being on this site. Nobody bullied him in the first place though.
