If we remove playstation console only 4 consoles/handheld outsold PSP and we know wii and ds sold that much because of casuals and those one won't buy another consoles.

I think it's not difficult to sell more then NES which sold 60m but it's more difficult to sell more then PSP

I don't no about that. If Nintendo sells a fusion console it will sell like hot cakes, the business world is volatile so, Microsoft could stop doing future consoles, as could Nintendo and Sony, also a new king could enter the market, That are some possibilities.

This gen, probably. Next gen or beyond? Risky prediction to make. It's practically bound to fail eventually, whether it be next gen or 2-3 decades down the road. Who knows if Sony (or Microsoft or Nintendo) will even still be a contender then?

Why don't you show PSP struggled to move software and that's why support dried up inspite of great sales? Any significant software sales it had occured early on and dwindled. Frankly, much of PSP's sales are due to piracy.

Now its uncertain if X1 will surpass PSP in hardware sales. But I GUARANTEE X1 will trounce PSP in software sales. That's more important than hardware sales because that's what keeps great games coming to a platform.

It certainly didn't take long for the X1 to surpass Vita in hardware and software sales.

So the 3DS doesn't have another 30 million in it? I am actually genuinely asking because I really do not follow handhelds. Perhaps those of you in the know can enlighten me how possible that is or not.

I think not even the PS4 will surpass the PSP. 3ds has at least three more years of life ahead, it may get close or even surpass it, but I personally don´t see that happening.
Anyway... I don´t see a point in comparing a last gen console with current gen. We all know that last gen was a phenomenon that probably will never happen again. Since 2009 consoles sales are down every year and will probably continue to do so.

If Nintendo releases a €180 handheld with a killer :launch title it can definitely reach it.
The 3DS was Nintendo's most expensive handheld at launch and that's where they made a big mistake. There were also big droughts in 2011. I think they learned from those two mistakes.
