Forums - Nintendo - What To Buy When Buying A Wii U?

So many people have listed the same thing. I will give a few different options, both of which are for local multiplayer and have dual screen functionality i.e one player plays on the gamepad and one on the TV. Both of these, you can picxk up for under $20.

Lego The Hobbit is amazing (ignore tainted reviews)

Black Ops 2, with local dual screen multiplayer.

Also get swords and Soldiers for like $3 from the eshop. If you don't already have assassins creed 3 & 4 they are  about $9-$12 each. As for everything else, mk8 and the likes are obvious purchases.

Sorry guys and girls totally of topic and i don't know how to make a thread but the food most people eat is just shit. I could say a lot here but don't know if anybody would care. Does anybody feel like we're screwed left, right and centre/ center. I'm getting a bit pissed off.

I'm going to put something other than software out there: a Pro controller. Assuming you have someone to game with that is. The Wii U has great couch multiplayer, so take advantage of that.

I thought it was funny.

Anyways, just make a thread about it in the Off-Topic forums and you'll be fine.

DOnkey Kong COuntry: Tropical Freeze, PIkmin 3, Bayonetta 2, Wind Waker HD, Mario Kart 8, 3D World and Super Smash Bros are must haves.

The must haves for every genre (retail):

Action:

  • Bayonetta 1/2 (Two amazing games for the price of one. Both games are at the top of their genre)
  • Hyrule Warriors (If you enjoy the Musou games, HW is a no brainer. Also provides an incredible amount of content)
  • The Wonderful 101 (A unique take on the Action genre by Kamiya. If you're a fan of his games you can't miss out)

Action-Adventure:

  • The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD (A beautiful recreation of the original game. Gameplay changes have also been made to improve the experience)

Fighting

  • Super Smash Bros. For Wii U (The continuation of the superb fighting franchise. The game's quality, polish, and pelthora of content speak for themselves)

Miscellaneous

  • Nintendo Land (Not many games use the full advantages given by the GamePad, but Nitnendo Land makes fantastic use of the hardware capabilities. Asymmetric multiplayer gameplay is awesome)

Platform

  • Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (Continues the proud DK lineage of games with tight controls, amazing level design, awesome music, and a hearty challenge)
  • New Super Mario Bros. U/New Super Luigi U (I would argue that these two games can stand along Mario's greatest 2D adventures. 4 player co-op continues the chaotic fun)
  • Rayman Legends (Improves on the already stellar Rayman Origins, and the music levels are amazing)
  • Super Mario 3D World (Another masterpiece from EAD Tokyo. So far it's my game of the generation, and for good reason too)

Puzzle

  • Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (A take on the Captain Toad segments from 3D World. The game is charming and very fun)

Racing

  • Mario Kart 8 (Brilliant in everything it wants to achieve. It's fast, fun, smooth, and gorgeous. Local and online multiplayer are top tier)

Shooter

  • ZombiU (A true "survival horror" in the sense of the player having to truly survive in a zombie infested London setting. The perma-death design leads to some incredibly tense situations)

Strategy

  • Pikmin 3 (The continuation of the unique real time strategy game. If you're a fan of multi-tasking to victory, then this game is for you)

More highly regarded games, whether retail or eShop, can be found here. Good luck!

Perfect summary.

No one has mention LEGO City Undercover, and that makes me sad. The gameplay is typical LEGO fair, which means it's simple, but there is SO MUCH to do. I completed the campaign and it said I was only 19% complete. You will have to deal with some awfully long loading times, but the seamless open world is worth it. The humor had me smiling most of the way through the game.

Not that many people have mentioned Nintendo Land either, so I'll add my vote to that. There really is something for everyone there.

You might have been served better by having a pole with the number of repeat suggestions. I didn't see Tekken Tag Tournament or Trine 2 posted so in addition to what everyone else is saying, I recommend these titles.

I would pass on Citizens of Earth till there is a stability release. It's buggy as hell.

ZombiU is super cheap now and it's a good game if you are into slower survival horror games.

Get an external HD if you plan to do much digital, if you plan for physical it's unnecessary.

Deus Ex might be hard to find physical now. Maybe it's just in my area, Wii U physical games are fairly slim pickings.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.
