you haven't played it did you ^^ oh how the internet works, everyone throws with opinions of others around them stating them as facts. thats not how it works pal :) |
I'm guessing that if everyone holds this opinon, there's some legitamacy to it. So yeah, when I play it, I'm sure I'll find it a decent game, but I already know that this isn't the game that I wanted, and it will probably be traded in within a week of me purchasing it.

If you actually wrote what he says in the video on here, you would probably be banned.

Brokengamezhd 7.5/10
Looks great, sounds great, weapons are great, Story is OK, but pretty standard, somewhat like The Underworld movies. QTE's not as much as what he feared, but still a bit too much, same with cutscenes. Game doesn't allow for enough player control. Inability to roll away from danger, except at specific times when a button prompt (what a weird gameplay design choice, who would ever think that's a good idea?). Lots of wasted potential gameplay-wise. Short changed on the amount of halfbreed fights in the game, and repetitive settings for halfbreed fights. 7-8hrs as a first playthrough on hard, (probably means the 5-6 hour playthrough reviews did it on easy - my comment). Pretty easy platinum probably requires 2 plays through. Enemy AI starts off dumb ends up OK. Enemy uses some of the same weapons as you do. Critical of lack of MP/co-op because there's not enough in the SP to justify itself at full price. Thinks to the average gamer it's worth buying for $30, for a fan of cover based TPS could be worth paying a bit more for, but not worth $60.
But still gets a 7.5/10. Is this guy generous with his scores, or is that actually a pretty good score?

In my opinion, TO deserves the middle-of-the-road reviews considering the design philosophy RaD adopted in making TO. Graphics will look nice to many people and RaD should be commended for TO's visuals but graphics are not the only thing that go into a video game just like lighting is not all there is to a movie. Video games can also feature game play, sound design, replayability, frame rate, a good story, multiplayer, etc. Let this be a learning experience for RaD going forward. |
It's got general praise for the sound, frame rate has been solid at 30fps, but not 100%, story has received mixed reactions. So other than straight visuals it does have other good points, just not the most important aspect of a game (underlined). Replayability and multiplayer are not essential features of a game. If a game is long enough it doesn't need replayability or multiplayer.

There was never anything that looked vaguely good about this game beyond its visuals, and its setting if you're into Victorian stuff. Pretty much everything that looked wrong with it in the first place (bland looking shooting, limited interactivity) actually were wrong with it. Interesting though to see how firmly people hold to an opinion once it's formed.
