In fairness, Secret of Mana seems to be a total fluke. There are about ten games in the series, and only Secret and its immediate sequel weren't bad. Most are just flat out garbage. Square's (and now Squeenix's) other ARPGs are also generally bad; I'm having a hard time thinking of any besides Nier that aren't terrible.
