Forums - Nintendo - Kirby and The Rainbow Curse Reviews are in! Rather average so far! 75 metacritic score!

I guess a Metascore in the 70's was predictable in retrospect.

Kirby games typically do okay with critics for what they are, but tend to be less favored than other Nintendo platforming series. The only two Kirby games that have ever really won critics over were Canvas Curse and Epic Yarn. Even those games would probably do worse with critics in a more contemporary setting though. Canvas Curse was a hit largely because it was strangely revolutionary, being one of the first games on a major platform to make great use of touch controls. Touchscreens aren't exactly a new frontier anymore. Epic Yarn had the benefit of being a graphically stunning game and making better use of cooperative play than earlier 2D platformers on recent consoles. Rainbow Curse is nowhere near that level of beauty compared to its peers and has a somewhat meaningless art style in terms of gameplay.

Rainbow Curse is far from doomed. Return to Dream Land, Super Star Ultra, and Squeak Squad sold well with similar reviews.

People get tired of playing the same games

I wonder if this qualifies as spam.

I also didn't know a sequel to a 10 year old game was considered more of the same.

Fine but this is not destiny, this is a spin off  and a sequel of a very creative game 10 years ago, you know, just because has Kirby on it it doesn´t mean is the same game, us, Nintendo owners get tired of heard everytime the same thing, is not so hard to understand, Mario Kart, Mario Galaxy and Paper Mario are NOT the same game over and over, and this is not the same as Kirby Dreamland.

And btw, you are talking like this is a bad score, it isn´t, with 10 reviews it has  two 9 and one 10, is going to be up 75, around the same scored of almost every big multiplatform last year, for a 40 buck game. Is pretty fine .

Ign gives Kirby a 8/10 :D

"Like its DS predecessor, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse is a delightfully charming and unique platformer. Its world is varied, its challenge is high, and the hand-molded look and feel make for a remarkable journey. The never-ending barrage of charm more-than makes up for some of its less-than stellar elements. There’s a pot of platforming gold at the end of this rainbow."

GiantBomb proving they're the real Gamespot.

@underline: I'm not saying it won't be charming I think it will but it takes more than bright colors and a Nintendo character to make it charming

@Bold: change a couple words and you have Sony exclusives like the Order in a nutshell and why I'll be buying the order lol.  I completely agree with your stance here.

Of course it takes more than that, but most Nintendo games have that feel. Especially Kirby games.

As for The Order, it looks to be a good game for what it does, just like Kirby is a good game for what it does. They're not for everyone, certainly, but I think they certainly pander to their audiences quite well.

I also think it's interesting to point out that the woman who wrote GameSpot's review actually tweeted that she had help from the guy that wrote Giant Bomb's review in order to complete the game. Hmmm, I wonder why they're the only two bad reviews?

they should go work at Quarter to 3
