Forums - Gaming Discussion - Peter Molyneux: “I haven’t got a reputation in this industry any more”

Both of these guys need to prioritize other things way more than this topic. They are both way too offensive and offended for a gaming issue.

Jim Sterling made a good video about this subject on the Jimquisition:

Fuck that interviewer.

It's not a great first question. But it's not entirely unwarranted, either. Some of this stuff is just incredible.

Peter Molyneux: Again you’re going down a very emotional line. But it’s born out of– when I did Curiosity and I thought of putting into the center of the cube a royalty share of the revenue for Godus, as soon as his role of God of Gods started, I thought that was a pretty good thing. And as soon as that comes to pass and as soon as we’ve got the technology to do that, I think, he will be getting that money and his reign will last six months and I think it will be an amazing feature.

RPS: OK, so you said that Bryan will be God Of Gods for six months. Just to double-check on this. When we spoke to you on 2012 you told us that it would be a significant amount of time, you estimated five or ten years.

Peter Molyneux: We what?

RPS: You said five or ten years, is what you told us.

Peter Molyneux: For what?

RPS: For being God Of Gods.

Peter Molyneux: No, I’ve always said that his reign would only last a certain amount of time but the God of Gods role, if Godus continues to be as successful as it is on mobile, could last that long. I mean there are mobile games that are being played now – and there are webgames that are being played now – that are decades old.

RPS: Let me quote, you said: “By the way, there would need to be enough time to make it meaningful for him in every sense of the word, but we could make it five years, we could make it ten years. I think I wanted before–”

Peter Molyneux: And then later on I came out and said it would be six months. And I said that again and again. What are you trying to do? You’re trying to prove that I’m a pathological liar, I suppose, aren’t you.

RPS: I’m trying to establish that you don’t tell the truth.

To the throat. :D

He makes average to terrible games with 1/16 of the promise it had.

That video is basically every single emotion I have towards the man. I feel everyone should watch that video.

While this interview was rather harsh, I m glad that someone called him out on this cause for decades, he has been over promising and under delivering games and all the interviews he usually does are very "canned" imo. Jim Sterling did a pretty awesome video on this so people should watch that

Brutal interview but when you fuck up the way Peter has done it's definitely warranted. In this day and age of unfinished games and broken promises it's crucial that we push the evil-doers against the wall and force them to take responsibility.

And the Jimquisition video is spot on.

While the interviewer came out douchey, you really can't blame him. Peter has been notorious for consistently underdelivering and breaking promises. You'd think that he would have already learned his lesson and keep his promises in check. Gamers are fed up with Peter's insincerity and it really shows in RPS's frustration.

To think....who would've thought Fable would be the start of the downfall of this mans career? Not even Microsoft's money could fund his dreams. Even after all of that he took peoples pledges knowing he could not accomplish the goals. I sometimes wonder where his conscience is, but then again i've been worrying about that since before this incident recently. I am talking Fable era. Fable in itself is a game that really does not have a clue about what it is, nor where its going. I've played all of the mainline Fables...and I am still confused.

Crisis of identity is something you can say about all Peter Molyneux games. Like The Movies, which doesn't know if it wants to be a Hollywood tycoon or a movie-maker. But that doesn't prevent the game from being awesome.
