Forums - Nintendo - Aonuma Says Zelda Wii U Will Push Hardware With “As Large A World As Can Be Realised”

Upset? What on earth made you think I was upset? What started as a clean reply to your comment has devolved into sheer pointlessness. Is this the treatment everyone who disagrees with you gets?

And no, they're not the same thing. You can't compare someone's opinion on stories in video games to someone's take on rape, murder, and racism. Not everyone agrees with you, accept that.

You threw around insults because I called you out. That's what makes me think you're upset. Usually when people disagree with someone, they back it up. Saying "that's your opinion" isn't even disagreeing. It's literally just stating the irrelevant obvious in a feeble attempt to discredit someone's opinion. So no lol that is not the treatment I give to anyone who disagrees with me. It's the treatment I give to people who chose to make feeble attempts at discrediting someone's opinion instead of actually backing their statements up, or simply not commenting. It has nothing to do with your opinion. It has everything to do with you not defending you opinion in a way that has substance. In my opinion.

I went into detail about why that is a feeble attempt at discrediting someone's opinion, and you didn't have a relevant rebuttle to that either. You can't compare them, because? "Both are 'opinions' and both have overwhelming reasons why simply waving arguments against them away as "opinions" is weak." Instead of deconstructing why that statement, which is my argument, is wrong, you simply repeated that it's just not comparable. "You can't compare someone's opinion on stories in video games to someone's take on rape, murder, and racism." Then prove it. Back it up. You can't compare them, because? I back up my opinions. You've backed up none of yours. You keep saying "Not everyone agrees with you." What does that have to do with anything? You're stating the obvious again in a weak attempt to discredit my argument so you don't have to defend your own with substance. "That's your opinion." I know it is. I know it's my opinion. Defend yours.

If you think that the stories in Zelda games are well written, deep, and in the same league as other great works of literature and you disagree with me, tell me why. Don't just write it of as "just being an opinion," and expect anyone to take that as some humbling words of enlightenment. You're in a forum surrounded by assumedly intelligent people who all have opinion. Everyone already knows what an opinion is and everyone is already assuming that everyone knows how to excersize their own.

I fail to see how saying "that's your opinion" discredits your opinion, can you not deal with other people's views? Does everyone have to shut up around you or something? You said all of the stories in Zelda were bad, and I disagreed, that was that, what more is there to say? There's no need to make a mountain out of nothing. Again, get off your high horse.

"If you think that the stories in Zelda games are well written, deep, and in the same league as other great works of literature and you disagree with me, tell me why."

I never said they were "great works of literature". The stories are memorable and well thought, they stick with you. They stand the test of time and are still as fresh today as they were when they were first released.

Lastly, I understand you have some infamous e-thug reputation to live up to on here, but your argument is daft. You think the stories are bad, and I don't, that's that, nothing to start a war over, they're video games, a pastime, a hobby. Nothing to take seriously.

Now, comparing that to someone's views on rape and murder? It doesn't compare, it's stupid.

@Cheshire and Toxicroak

I think you guys are better off going in different directions at this point. Time to move on. :)

@OP

As much as I do enjoy content filled areas, I'm also hoping for some places where I can just run, or glide, or gallop... I really do love for those moments of peace. Just that simple interaction, the midst of chaos and action everywhere else, can be a beautiful thing. In Wind Waker, I loved just sailing and seeing the islands come and go, the sun set and rise. In Skyward Sword I was enthralled in just sailing the sand seas... ^_^

That sunset view in the Zelda Wii U video... : ) So good... And I loved the sailing theme in WW! It got me so excited to head to the shores and set off for the next destination. : D Sailing was so relaxing too.

The two clips we have seen of Zelda had a reasonable number of points of interest visible. If they maintain that density in most areas, I think it will be ok. One thing the open world will need is minor dungeons and caves to explore. I don't think this game needs Skyrim or Oblivion levels of density (I mean the Colovian Highlands...dang oO); it's not that type of game. But a lite version of that would suit it well.

Luckily they showed this off a bit when Link and Epona ran with those wild horses.

Makes me smile every time.

This may well be the first Nintendo-developed Wii U title to really push the limits of the hardware.

(Actually second; I just remembered that XCX comes out first)
