This is Bodhesatva's official warning to Sporsk for being suspicious.

1) You copy and pasted from another, very old thread, and made it appear that it was new material.

2) For those who don't know, Sporsk is the name of a NeoGAF admin, and the avatar used is the same one another NeoGAF admin uses, Amirox.

I've been keeping an eye on you every time you've posted for the latter reason alone, but the former reason just gave me more ammunition. Consider yourself under watch.

In the end, Wii will be so succesfull that all this won't be important...

Let's say 1/3 of Wii owners are avid gamers who buy 10 games a year... another 1/3 are occasionnal gamers and kids who buy/receive 2 or 3 games a year... and the last 1/3, non-gamers who'll never buy anything else than Wii Sports...

In such a case (highly improbable, but let's say that's the way it is), if Wii has a 20 million userbase, it could be a problem, indeed...

But if Wii has a 50 million userbase? The "problem" is already gone...

And if Wii has a 80 million userbase? Nobody will think the way of the original post anymore, Wii games will always find their audience, sales will be good enough, at least for the good games out there...

And of course, right now, 3rd parties already sell more software on Wii than on PS3... don't believe me? Just take a look at the numbers in this thread...

http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=19802&start=0#end

So ok, Wii may scare some 3rd parties... but what about PS3 then? Do you think that with higher costs and less sales, the PS3 offers good business opportunities?

I don't think so... but it's ALWAYS about the "Wii and 3rd parties problem" anyway... maybe it's a good time to stop that kind of argument, don't you think?

and an ugly drawing in 1080p will stay ugly forever..."

To third partys is better develope to Wii than PS3.

Nintendo seems to be a victim of their own success. There is no doubt that this is a concern for developers. How many of those consoles sold were sold to gamers. Nintendo has marketed this machine to everyone from your grandparents to your four year old niece. Yes Wii sports is ample reason to buy the console. These people might only play that game on the console. Little concern for Nintendo they make money off of the machines, and their games will always sell to the gamers that buy the console. However how much room does that leave for third party developers.

The coveted market is the gamer market. Those are the folks that buy half a dozen games a year. Thats where you make your sales. Thats what makes sure you sell enough to make a profit. Thats where you can strike gold. Even Nintendo themselves have addressed this issue. The fear that the console does not have enough gamers. They have widened the market now they need to entice the core market. They know its a issue, and they have promised to work on it. That does however mean there is a problem.

The difficulty for third party developers is to know exactly what the demographics for the system are. They know what the demographics for the other three consoles are, but not the Wii. Thanks to the success of Nintendo in marketing, and unfortunately the Nintendo loyalists. They would have bought the machine regardless. Often only for Nintendo games. Thats why I have a Wii only for the Nintendo games.

You can't really blame the developers even we could not say how much of the current owners are actual gamers. Ironically the console doesn't even have a good litmus test. Zelda, and Resident Evil are both Gamecube ports. Hell Resident Evil is not even full price. Metroid has only sold half a million. Mario Party has obscene sales. Red Steel was a launch title. The Maddens have flopped, and the console has spent months being a barren wasteland. In spite of that the sales are through the roof. The console thwarts analysis.

The question really is this. Could the Wii be a true console, or is it a highly appreciated peripheral. Until developers see real proof to the effect they will be cautious. This is a serious issue for Nintendo. They need to prove to third party developers that it is a viable console. Lest the non gamers tire of the concept.

Not sure why people get upset about this its just common sense. We know Nintendo has sold to non gamers, and chances are your not going to get many of these new consumers to purchase anything beyond the pack in game.

Say 10 gamers do buy 6 a piece, which is 60 games.  And say it splits up 25 for X360, 20 for PS3 and 15 for Wii.  Obvious thing to do is to make the game for the X360 and port to PS3 or the opposite, right?  Have a chance of selling 45 games vs only 15.  Except for a few things.

First of all, how many other developers are also zeroing in on that 45 games?  Say, it is 15 developers.  Then on the average, each one will sell only 3 games to the 10 gamers, if they develope only for the X360/PS3.  But say one or two decide to build excellent games, but not in the Nintendo style.  That is, more hardcore like RE games have been.  And because Nintendo developes so much and so well, it breaks down, 9 Nintendo games and only 6 non-Nintendo.  With only the 2 developers, that still is 3 games sold to the 10 gamers, just as many as the other developers sold to the PS3/X360 crowd.

Second, the casual market beyond gamers.  Those beyond the PS2 casual crowd, call them DS casuals, of Nintendogs, BrainAge and Cooking Mama.  That market is going towards the Wii, with devices like Wii Fit making it even more so.  Developers that hit the right new genre are going to do well.  Sure, right now it seems to be all mini-games.  But where's the new Nintendogs/BrainAge/Tetris?  The developer that comes up with the truly new ideas like these games is going to do very well.  And these styles of new games will do very on the Wii.  After all, if Tetris had just been thought up, would a gamer really buy a Tetris game for it gorgeous HD cut scenes?  Would casuals?

Lastly, there is the PS2 120M+ crowd, that only partially has been 'heard' from, in terms of which new console will they buy, if any of them.  A number of them have already bought one of the newer consoles.  But a lot are waiting for the prices to drop.  The Wii is going to have the first chance at the bargain hunters, since it is unlikely that X360 and PS3 will be ever able to drop their costs below what a Wii costs to make.  Of course, before the Wii can drop its price, supply has to caught up with demand.  Or like X360 and PS3, demand will drop enough at the Wii current price, that it will need to be dropped like the other two, to simulate demand again, like they have.

Torturing the numbers.  Hear them scream.

Never post anti nintendo stuff on vgchartz.

Yeah, and with Brawl coming out. That's sure to dash a lot of expectations as much as it's been hyped.
