Forums - Gaming - We need a competitor against FIFA.

Soccer games nowadays are practically an EA monopoly. With PES not selling as well as it used to do (and by a lot), we'll see another generation where FIFA games are just reskins of the last games, with barely any good change at all. The thing that the Soccer genre needs (all sport videogames, but soccer games are the best selling VG sport) is a good contender. I know that won't stop EA Sports reskinning their games and selling quite well despite of it, but it could at least give them a bit of a reason to improve a little. The question is, who would be able to make a decent Soccer game? How would it compete against FIFA?

It can't be an exclusive game. It has to be multiplat if it wants to go toe-to-toe with FIFA.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Mario Strikers!

Ok, not really a contender since it would not be multi-plataform, but i like it better and hope it happens.

2K, while they're starting on soccer they need to get back into football. Damn Madden-NFL exclusivity deal.

PES got a higher metacritic score than FIFA last year. Fox Engine has done wonders for it. It might take a few years to catch on though, same as with FIFA after its shit period.

PES isn't good enough for you? Then again, they have so little teams compared to FIFA....

We need someone willing to go against a juggernout who holds the Fifa license in exclusive and can outbid and outspend pretty much anyone. My money is on Sega...

PES main problem always was licensing teams and stadiums, otherwise the game itself is great, especially PES 2015 which I prefer over FIFA 15 in terms of gameplay. I saw somewhere that PES will no longer be an annualized game but that is to be seen.

Sad because PES 2015 was the first PES that i liked more than FIFA hopefully they keep improving the gane more and more and gain more sales

What makes you think that any other game would succeed where PES failed?

FIFA is popular for a reason and nothing any competitor could do will stop that.

no they got exactly the same.

OT: Obviously FIFA has to improve a bit more than the past few games did. But I wouldn't worry too much. It's an annual franchise and the jump from last gen to next gen always takes a few years/games (FIFA 14, FIFA 15) until they can focus on doing some real improvements.

Personally I'm hoping for a FIFA Street 2, the last one was fantastic.
