Forums - Gaming - Thinking about getting into Monster Hunter

I don't think it's that hard. My first game was Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and I beat it with relative ease. The problem is that you have a lot of stuff you need to know. Just sit down, check the wiki and learn about the game.

Learn about the armor and their skills, the weapon affinity, elemental weaknesses and how to use your weapon in combat and you are set. Oh and the combo list, be sure to give that thing a check.

And grab some friends, it's a lot more fun that way.

I watched Projared's Beginner's Guide to MH, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6iYOHaGGKk, so I feel like I know the basics.  Non of my friends play MH, I think I'm gonna be stuck playing with strangers online.

There's nothing more satisfying than powering up a giant oversized hammer and smacking a tigrex right in the face as it roars at you and sending it crumpling on its side like a dinosaur-sized sack of potatoes.
Oh those feels.

If you know the basics already then you are set. You are bound to learn more as you play the game!

Most of the game can be done solo but there are a bunch of quests (G rank) that are easier if you play with people. So when you get there just find people online! That's something cool about Monster Hunter 4... online multiplayer!

Will I need to find people online, I mean I heard you get a party of cat companions in MH4U.  I'm just a little worried its gonna be hard to find someone to help me out in a quest.

The cats are good for the first missions but on G rank they are pretty much useless! You will find someone! And if you don't find anyone I can help you!

It's the same stuff with more monsters + prettier monsters. I'd only recommend playing it on a handheld.

What's wrong with MH3 Ultimate on Wii U?

Nothing inherently wrong with it, but I just recommend playing it on handhelds. The series is designed for handhelds first.

Would you have anyone to play through with? Game isn't worth your time if you're playing alone.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

Nope, non of my friends are into MH, they only play cod, bf and sports games.

I downloaded the MH4U demo and tried it, the biggest problem I had was the camera, everything else was okay.  I really want to use the shoulder buttons to move the camera, but I can't and I couldn't find anyway to lock onto the monsters.
