i had a mobo with tv tuner allmost 10 years ago, got it cheap because i had problems with my mobo and they couldnt replace it so they gave me a bigger one. it worked, but my next mobo hadnt a tv tuner because i never used it...

we had tv for phones in germany for 10 years, nobody wanted it and im not sure if its still a thing. watched some wc 2006 on a phone because reasons...

we've had a phone with a digital tuner before?
i've rejected tv on a phone before because
A) streaming things like netflix or whatever doesn't work because my phone's data connection is much too slow.
B) even if it worked my data plan isn't large enough to stream anything without paying ridiculously expensive rates.
C) downloading something in advance so that i can watch without streaming is too labor intensive and phone storage is too small to put much on it anyways.
a digital tuner seems like it would get around all those issues. i would only get publically availible tv like nbc or cbs but i only have rabbit ears on my home tv anways so it's the same delivery i have there. sounds good to me.

They were bad because they also consumed a lot of power. Add to this that dvbt is dead in Germany and there is no sign dvbt 2 will change this.
Obviously none of you ever import a phone from Korea or Japan. There are still a lot of phone over there with TV capacity

it was a big feature before the iphone hype. but it wasnt selling phones so they went away from it
They might be useful but not that actually sales. They need more then this if they want to compete. Actually i want to see another innovation that really useful like water resistant phone they did a couple years back. Maybe they can combine their Walk man technology (with digital amplifier, DAC) with phones but make it affordable. Then i am sure they will able to compete directly with iphones.
Sony make good phones but they are lacking brand value.

For broadcasting, this is true, yes. Dvbt 2 will also be with hevc iirc so this will require new hardware, too, which will be a show stopper for the technology.
