Forums - Gaming - Evolve Review Thread of Reviews

Seems we'll be seeing a lot of outlets do "review in progress" for MP heavy games from now on, starting with Evolve. So that's one good thing to come from the Halo/DC launch disasters, I guess.

IGN - 9 out of 10
Gametrailers - 86
Gamespot - Big ole' 8
Polygon - An 8.0
PC Gamer - No score until retail release
Shacknews - Want faster unlocks. Score of a 7
The Escapist - 4 1/2 stars aka 9 out of 10
MMGN - 8 out of 10
Attack of the Fanboy - 9 out of 10
CheatCC aka my favorite site in the early 00's - 9 out of 10

PC Metacritic - 78%
PS4 Metacritic - 78%
Xbone Metacritic - 77%

Feel free to post more as they come and I will update.

An 8/10? Welp it's a piece of shit. /sarcasm

- Max Payne 3

I'm gonna skip this game, thanks to the IGN for the warn.

Read IGN's impressions, and I'm pretty certain I know why unlocks and progressions are slow --- they intend to microtransaction the crap out of unlocks and perks.
I was never really interested in this game as it is always online, but with their $15 DLC monsters, season passes for skins and other crap, I really hope this game fails commercially.

Ohh..

Evolve isn't always online lol. And God forbid it takes "several matches" to unlock something as IGN says LOL. One of the other reviews also complained about having to play a while to unlock stuff. They say that sucks, I think it's awesome. Another great thing about it is it forces people to expand their playstyle by making them rank up different abilities. You can't unlock the next medic without using your heal or tranq gun. Awesome.

With that said, unless you suck, it doesn't take long to level things up at all. Some people want instant gratification I guess.

Adding The Escapist - 9/10

I agree, the the deluxe edition costs 90€ alone in psn store, i have never seen such an expensive version of any digital game before.

That's a bit more mixed than I anticipated. I'm still pretty excited, though.

I consider it always online because it doesn't have single player. Or, should I say, it can be played alone if you wish to play the same maps with bots.

If that is not true, why doesn't any review mention a single player story, number of chapters, how long the story lasts....oh, wait, because there is none. So, it is always online.

The game is a limited DLC fest with outrageously priced skins that were cut out from the $60 version.

I still think this game will bomb hard, and the irony is...if you wait for the price to drop (which will happen quickly), you will still get screwed because the online community will die even quicker.
