Forums - Gaming - How hyped are you for Mortal Kombat X?

Quite hyped for it. Looks much better than Mortal Kombat 9.

Not at all... I have not been hyped for an MK game since they migrated to 3D... this has been a long long long time...

Barely hyped at all. I loved fighting games from like N64 through the PS2 era, but really haven't been able to get into any since then.

I'm still not excited. The roster is pathetically small and i'm not seeing enough returning faces. The under wraps story also means they can't excite me with the plot aswell.

Its all very lukewarm. I was super excited and loved MK9 (i bought it 3 times), but this is not interesting me at all. Designs are looking worse and the game is getting a way darker tone that makes the whole thing difficult to see. We need context on why we should care about these new characters and a larger roster is way more important than 3 versions of the same character.
As its looking, i am going to give this one a pass or only get a complete edition on sale. I expect them to get back on track with MKXI.

How is 26 - 32 small? :S

If you think i'm gonna count character versions as different characters, you are sorely mistaken.

I see 24 character slots on the character select. One will be Goro wich is the pre-order character that is probably OP, half complete, banned and useless and the other is the slot for the DLC characters. So... its more like 22. MK9 had 28 at launch and no boss type characters to fill it up.

I would much rather they had ditched the character versions and beefed up the roster. For example you are assuming certain characters will return. I want to know how you will feel if they dont. This shortened cast and what they touted as the biggest number of new characters in an MK game makes me worry that they are pulling a Street Fighter 3.

I'm not gonna lie I thought more people would be hyped.... awe man.

Nah

It's a rent for me. I've never been a dedicated MK player, aside from playing it at a friend's or on an emulator. I'm a tekken fighter first and foremost.

Not hyped.MK has always been a shallow gimmick fighter.Design and fatalities look great though.

What do you mean shallow gimmick fighter

The move set is very limited with every character having the same basic attacks. There is no real strategy and it is easy to spam special attacks like Sub Zero's ice and the finishers are just gimmicks which is the only appeal. The characters themselves lack depth and too many reskins of ninjas.

Oh dear, should have done some research.

A) the updated select screen is 26. Goro and DLC being 25 and 26, B) that select screen isn't final, it's beta. MK DA, MK D and MK9 didn't have their final select screens unveiled until just a few weeks before the games released.

MK9 had 27 at launch, not 28.

Aha! It had 28 if you had the PS3 or Vita version. ;)

I'm glad they increased the roster, even though i wanted it to be bigger than the last game. I will reserve further judgement until i see the final roster. My concern is that they start making lots of new characters no one cares about and ignore the fan favorites.

These games hinge alot on the characters, and i think that making more than 4 new characters usually leads to a mistake as people that dont have their favorites returning will be pissed. I think they did quite a bit of that in the past and it diluted the fanbase. Thats what was so great about MK9. They brought back all the fan favorites from the original trilogy. Just like SF4, they need to grab that and slowly add new characters, because that is always going to be a hit or miss situation.

To be honest i am already quite annoyed about it because i dont like any of the new characters. Maybe the Cage girl... but that was just a cheap fusion of Cage and Sonya. I also wish they would reveal some more story about these new characters so we can actually care.
