Forums - Gaming - Destiny Has 16 Million Registered Users Playing An Average Of Three Hours Daily (Made $850 million)

Activision has announced that Destiny is doing just fine. The company shared new usership numbers during its year-end earnings call today.

The publisher says that 16 million players have registered in the game. On average, Destiny players are spending three hours in the game.

In combination with Hearthstone, Activision’s other new title in the 2014 fiscal year, Destiny is responsible for $850 million. For more on Activision’s financial performance, visit our earlier report.

Our Take
Despite the frustration that emerges from some quarters when Destiny comes up, people are still playing it in droves. We’ll see how these numbers shift with House of Wolves a few months away and then more new content arriving in the second half of the year.

The people I know that have played it are pretty much addicted to it now, I guess that was Activision's evil master plan all along.

GAF commynity receive a whole new batch of users after the last expansion.

I'm actually impressed people still play this game.

The game is a blast of fun and you meet people everyday... it is really something else... I never laugh so much in a game like playing Destiny with buddies.

Very good for Activision. I am still not interested.

I was a big fan and played everyday until I played and finish Crota's End. Then I suddenly lost interest in the game.

I haven't played it in months. I'm not going to get the expansion packs, and I doubt I'll get the next games in the series if they're anything like this one.

I haven't played it in a while. Too many other games to play, but I will get back to it at some point.

Activision must have done something right, contrary to popular opinion.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.
