I vaguely remember Yoshida mentioning that they'd consider having Xbox/PC only servers (though i assume they mean full PC support, not just W10). Personally i'd hate to see FF14's community split up like that, but it does improve the chances of it arriving on Xbox.

Theres no way they could move any existing PC users without there permission at least, so they may as well just make it Xbox only if they want to release it on xbox. There a subscription MMO there is no way they want to split there userbase by platform.

It's not happening unless Microsoft and Sony agree to cross platform play between PS4 and XBO.

As far as I'm aware with FF games being on PC,Xbox and PS I'd say the FF fanbase is already split up to those making the claim that they don't want it to be split, we've also reached a point where it;s better for most FF games to become multiplat, going back to being exclusive then multiplat and exclusive again does no one any favours.

I don't get why people are saying it won't happen, because Microsoft doesn't want to have crossplay with PS4. They already did it with FFXI on X360/PS2/PC (I had on PS2 and played with many X360 players).

If anything, Microsoft won't do it, because they like to have games on their servers and in their control, and an MMO like FFXIV simply won't make enough money to sway them. Each disc is $40 or less, and they don't get a cut of the subscription. Now if WOW were coming to consoles and they told Microsoft and Sony to play nice, I have no doubt it would be on both systems, because the system without such a title would just look bad.

On a less cynical note, I do hope FFXIV comes to X1. I play on PS4, but the more players the better.

I highly doubt that MS would do full pc/ps4/xbone cross play. It's the reason why it wasn't on there in the first place. Every server on XIV is shared. SE won't give MS special treatment on this.

They would need to allow cross platform play with PS4 and PS3 too though. If they didnt then the game cant release without SQEX opening more servers whcih isnt exactly the smartest thing, plus the XBO server or XB+PC server would likely be quiet compared to the others and MMO's thrive on communities.

They didnt block it with FF11 online, when they were the dominant force in gaming and MS were the newcomers, so i dont see why they would block it now. As long as its online games thats not behind there PSN+ paywall should be fine, and MMO's and free to play games are not behind that paywall.
