I think you can buy the download code even if you don't have a Nintendo Network ID (I think it's to help with people gifting games)
Check the links below because I'm not certain on the details:

Maybe he meant the backtracking. Not everyone's cup of tea even though it's the backbone of a Metroid game--getting more powerful to go back and handle challenges you couldn't, before.
Wait what? I had no idea load times would be affected. That's awesome! Might actually buy this now, even though I already own the disc version.
This digital Wii U version will recognize your old save files that are stored in the Wii mode of the console, I'm assuming...?
Nintendo Network ID: Cheebee 3DS Code: 2320 - 6113 - 9046
I just bought a physical copy of MPT literally one week before they announced it for Wii U
Oh well, I hate digital anyway

Well the combat with most enemies is pretty repetitive: L target, strafe, double jump to dodge, and spam A or Y when you get an opening. The bosses and special enemies change things up though. But in reality all games have repetitive gameplay mechanics so the gamer can rely on a system to proceed throughout the game. So i guess his argument in the end is pretty weak anyway I think what he was trying to say is that he doesn't find the gameplay in the Prime Trilogy appealing which is understandable but unfortunate (IMO of course).

Thanks, but... Hey, is it NA only? Doesn't Europe get the Trilogy for 10 Euro? I guess I can't buy a NA code and play it on a EU console?
Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!
My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/
My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.
