Yeah, they did show quite a bit at E3 last year, but it seems sort of lacking compared to Sony and Ninten. I can`t really recall what games they have coming, aside from Halo 5 honestly.
Dance my pretties!

You surely like to put spin on stuff. Phil Spencer only said that they don't have a 3rd person adventure game "a la" Indiana Jones to go against Uncharted and Tomb Raider. Nintendo is the only of the big 3, that has a distinctive style. Sony has no style and never had. Third party was what put PS1 and PS2 on top of their respective gens. What games did Sony creat that set trend in the industry? |
I'm not putting a spin on anything. You obviously just don't want to hear it as it was told. Microsoft is the weakest at making games because they have no vision. Great at software with an amazing vision for that, but very little for bringing life to rich new worlds with interesting characters on a large budget.
"Totally. I'm a big fan of Uncharted and I wish we had an action adventure game of that ilk. We've started some, and we've looked at them. But we don't have one today of that quality. This is an opportunity." -Phil Spencer
Sony does have a distinctive style. Sony's style is based upon cinematic direction, heavy with story in almost every AAA game follows the formula ( I guess you thought that was a coincidence didnt you?)they set up. Sony in the 90's partnered with Naughty Dog and Insomniac because they wanted to be the pixar for gaming as to what Nintendo was the Disney.

Are you serious? Sony has God of War, LittleBigPlanet, Ratchet & Clank, Infamous, Killzone, Resistance, Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper, and TLOU to name a few. Sony first party content has sold a lot better on PS4 than Microsoft's has on Xbox One

Those are mega franchises? Really?
What is Mario, Halo, GTA and COD?
On Sony's first party camp selling more than MS's? We're early in this gen and MS's consoles have great attach ratio.
I don't really think they have to. With so many third party studios unable to fund/publish their own games now. I'm sure they are happy that MS offers to publish their titles.
Just like I'm sure Platinum was happy Nintendo payed for Bayonetta, and Capcom was happy Sony picked up the cost for SFV.
Shuhei Yoshida has said numerous times that majority of the 1st party games they make are not hits. Which is evident by how many studios they had in their PS2 heydays to now. While gamers appreciate the variety that Sony brought, they did not return the favor in kind by the lackluster sale numbers for a majority of their games, usually breaking even.
I think it's no big surprise that Sony embraced the Indie community to fill in for the dead areas between 1st party, and AAA 3rd party releases. while creating bigger buffer zones for major hits should a delay/ or unforeseen scenario develop. By keeping the community happy with time wasters and the occasional gems, everyone one wins. except for people that hate indie titles.
MS needs to play serious catch up with the indie community, hopefully some of this is alleviated with the impending integration of Windows 10 into the xbox 1.
Time will tell.

Are you telling me that Max Payne, MGS and Splinter Cell follows Sony game philosophy that started in 2007? Get out of here STAGE.
You could say the same about Sony, since the beginning of 7th gen they been looking for a Halo killer with no success. Now they tried a Forza killer and they miserably failed.

They are mega franchises when they sell millions of copies and get lots of sequels
I really doubt Microsoft's entire first party lineup will outsell Sony's in the future. Other than Halo, Gears of War, Forza and Fable Microsoft doesn't have many big sellers.

Max Payne, MGS and Splinter Cell are not what I am talking about. I am talking about the companies style. Almost every AAA they make has a distinct cinematic quality to it.
As for Halo....Sony has given up on trying to find another Halo. They need to focus on being Sony. Only then will Microsoft be forced to give chase.
P.S.
MS bought Halo...so there is nothing there to attribute to their creativity.
Sly Cooper, Jak & Daxter, Resistance, Infamous, and Killzone are now "mega franchises"? Yowza.
I am equally shocked to learn that PS4 games sell more than Xbox One games. I guess the 7+ million more consoles in the wild makes more of a difference than I thought *shrugs*
Personally I don't really get the point of this thread. With the stipulations the OP specified, Sony has only two of these games out so far this gen and Nintendo one. It's not like any of the companies have been bastions of internal originality this generation.
