Forums - Sales - Is It Safe To say That X1 is Winning America?

PS4 should win again most NPDs this year. Depending on how many Halo fans already bought the console X1 may win this year overall.

Judging by Amazon charts for 2015 in the US I'm gonna say PS4 is winning and VGchartz is gonna adjust once NPD comes out for January.

I think it is funny how no one even brings up Playstation Vue in the US. This is the first time people have the oppertunity to get rid of the cable box, and it is comming with major features not available anywhere else. Sony is working with MLB Advanced Media who are the back bone of MLB.TV who stream over 2400 live games every year. MLBAM is also the tech behind WWE Network which has just hit one million subscribers, and the soon to launch HBO OTT service. Playstation Vue is going to get the biggest marketing of any Playstation product this year.

With that said. I don't think it is in the bag for the XBO, I don't even think they are winning right now. It is only going to get worse with Playstation Vue, Playstation Music (Powered by Spotify), plus the big exclusives. I think the only chance XBO has to put this in the bag is if, 1) they drop the price to $300, and 2) the new Windows Universal apps bring unmatched usability to the platform. Even at that, I don't think Sony will have any issue going to $300 at some point this year, and I don't think opening up the system to any and all kinds of software and applications is to far away.

It is not safe to say, but it is probable. Other than the short jump to $399 that wasn't even implemented by some retailers, XOne has a lot of momentum from the holidays, as it gave Americans a chance to recommend the console to their friends. Also, in the past few weeks I see it advertised so much tied to Superbowl and the NFL.

January NPD will be a close battle, but it is possible that XOne will win, alrhough by a smaller margin than previous months.

Not even close to probable given what amazon is showing.

I hope you and the rest of Amazoniacs realize that Amazon is not the only place you can buy consoles. Heck, it's not even the largest retailer, with much more consoles being sold at retail stores like WalMart, Best Buy, Target etc.

And even then, Amazon just gives out rankings, so it is impossible to know if the difference of ten spots means ten consoles, or ten thousand.

Therefore, while taking into account consoles' respective placements on Amazon, I still think that it is highly probable that XOne will win. It is a bit less possible, and in the end PS4 might prevail, but it will in no way be a blowout like most months in 2014 when PS4 was winning or like November and December when XOne won with ease.

It does not matter what ranking means what, PS4 beat X1 each and every week of January.  PS4 > xbox all month long.  And given Amazon 100% right track record for last year, you got to have some other motives to argue for a xbox win.  And no one said blow out, dont make shit up just to help your opinon.  And if you want to talk ease of victory, PS4 doubled X1 sales for a few months.  No one won more easier then PS4 did.

My entire motive for arguing a POSSIBLE XOne victory is realism, as I have no reason to think in absolutes.

As for the blowout remark, it is strictly tied into Amazon's 100% prediction rate, as most of those 12 months witnessed blowout victories. I believe the closest XOne came in the first 10 months was a 15-20% difference. Therefore, Amazon had less chance to be incorrect. But in January 2015, in which the difference in sales could be very small, Amazon has a larger chance to be incorrect. If XOne were to be placed much lower than PS4, sure, it would mean a loss, but placing in Top 20 for the month still makes it seem like it's selling well.

No, that is very far from safe. Consider:

-The PS4 remains ahead in the US overall by a decent margin
-You are relying on two weeks of sketchy VGC tracking
-The Xbone is selling bundles for $350 with much heavier marketing, while Sony are selling basic PS4 packages for $400 with less advertising
-The PS4 has a strong games advantage
-VGC's numbers are quite close here, so it's not the kind of weekly gap which produces confident projections
-If you put any stock in Amazon analysis, we've seen the Xbone totally lose its lead on there since the holiday parental buying spree. All other major retailets indicate the same thing.

Another note: Even if your general premise turned out to be correct, that would not be "winning back" NA. MS have only won back the NA market when their matketshare vs. PS4 is as good or better than 360 vs. PS3. Unless they accomplish that (incredibly unlikely), they have still lost something they once had.

Congrats.  This statement has made my day.

Now back to what we know:
PS4 has be ahead for most/all the month on:
Amazon
Gamestop
Bestbuy
Walmart
Toysrus

Note: Target (PS4 was ahead until Target started doing the additional promotions including Madden as an additional free game)

That being said, no absolutes exist until NPD is released.
