So I've been crunching the numbers and it looks like XB1 may very well have beat 3DS in 2014, at least shipped.


3DS shipped 7.67m units

XB1 is harder to tell, but guesstimates put XB1 shipments at 4.5m~ (out of the 6.6m, so 2.1m for 360)

This is 8m for XB1.

This is surprising because VGC shows a 1.6m sell through gap that doesn't make sense.

well 3ds didnt get a pricecut
so Ill wait until next year when both should have pricecuts to see who wins

Well considering the Xbox one did that with heavy reduction I highly doubt it's such an achievement as one want to make it out to be and the 3DS still sold more software.

Lame year for the 3DS. Still... I can cling on the fact that the 3DS is outselling the Xbox One in japan like a pro! Hahaha how weird... my belly tingles!

xbox started 2014 with almost no retail channel stuffing coming off the system launch and high initial demand.
xbox ended 2014 with plenty of retail channel stuffing.

I'm pretty sure the channel inventory is exactly the same. 1m~ now, 800k end of 2013. Not sure what you're talking about.

True! Although it should be noted that the Xbox One and the Vita TV are very close to one another! It's a fierce battle in which (hopefully) the Xbox One will come out on top!
