Japanese games definitely. They're unique, stylish, innovative, interesting, and not trying to be so realistic.

Seems more common in Western Games.

Only Japanese Franschise that does it a lot is Konami... other than that name a few more.

...Every JRPG.

Western games, as of late. I was a big JRPG fan back in the PS2 days. However, with the JRPG genre getting stale as fuck and since I got my gaming laptop, WRPGs have rocked my gaming world (along with League of Legends, technically a western game) Fallout, Mass effect and Dragon age to name a few.

Other than JRPGs, I don't touch japanese games. It's either really obscure shit or games about animes i don't watch.

Japanese games, they tend to make more... interesting games.

Reading is different from viewing Cinematic cut scenes though. Usually JRPGs subsitute cutscenes for reading.

Granted it requires effort, but I rather enjoy it.

Damn it's close... I didn't think people still played Japanese...

Did you account for the fact that the majority of this site is composed of console gamers which are full of Nintendo or Sony gamers ?

For the vast majority of last gen and early this gen I prefer western games a lot more than japanese games ...

I can only deal with dated mechanics and design tropes for so long ...

So much fond memories with Fallout 3, Dragon Age: Origins, Far Cry 3, Halo 3, COD 4, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Hitman: Absolution, Red Dead Redemption, Dishonored, The Last of Us and so many others I didn't mention ...

This year we got Far Cry 4 and Dragon Age: Inquisition which were AMAZING!

I used to be a fanatic of japanese games until I started realizing the light at the end of the tunnel ...

Indeed I did. But still surprising considering there is a lot of Western Games on the PS4 (top selling console), plus this is a European site, AND I think Sony and Microsoft fans out number the Nintendo fans here no (systems with the most Western Games)?

Plus I considered this site for the hardcore gamer. What casual gaming site would have a 300+ post thread on a game that sold like Bayonetta 2?

Also I know just because people prefer Japanese games more ON THIS SITE doesn't mean that's how it is outside of it.

@Bold It's the opposite ... Don't just assume that the vast majority of the HD twin userbase prefer western games to japanese games because there is a fair divide amongst game preferences ...

The internet gaming community mostly consists of hardcore gamers ...

The thread was started here on this site and that's all that matters ...

I play japanese games the most
