I think you have too much nostalgia, only p.t. did it for me. Games like resi 2 arent scarry anymore

Yeah maybe, I haven't played RE 2 in a long time. What makes games like that not scary anymore?

they are not supernatural

.. I thought the early Resident Evil games were good survival horror. But thats just me.

I have to admit, I was never a fan of them. But were they really scary? I find them to have a certain lo-fi eerieness, I guess, but they were too cheesy for me to be scared by them at all. Unlike, say, Silent Hill. Brrrrrrrr!

Is it a good game then? It's steam weekend deal and only £11.99 so I'm tempted to grab it. I understand it's more action based like RE4 onwards (which also completely missed the "horror" aspect).

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

If you like RE4, I think you'll like Evil Within. It's a steal at that price. I paid full price, and it was worth every penny.

Make sure your PC can run it first. Lazy unoptimized port with crazy hardware requirements.

I never played a Silent Hill game, I don't know why not. The old RE games I haven't played since I was a kid. Maybe thats why they were scary to me.

Maybe!

If you want scary you really should give some Silent Hill games a shot. They're not quite as intense as PT, but they blow Resident Evil out of the water.

Which would you recommend? Is there any I should avoid?

They're all at least decent, but the first three are widely considered the best. Sadly, I used to love the first one, but it's borderline unplayable to me now. If you can still play PS1 era Resident Evils you shouldn't have any problem with it, though.
