86 is mediocre?
Look, it is still one of the best pay2play MMORPG to date. Anyone in the MMO community will tell you that. Now do yourself a favor and quit pulling at straws. Admit you're wrong because I can play this game with you all day. You're not doing yourself any favors if you continue.

I never hear anyone in the MMO community talk about this game actually. That 86% on PS4 metacritic is hard to take serious considering the exact same game has 78% on PS3.

You're hearing one now, and remember this is not a free2play mmorpg. Vgchartz mmo community is not that big anyways, but there is some here.

Yeah, 86 is pretty mediocre of a score. And I'd readily admit I'm wrong... When I am.

Different genre of games can't be compared with the same rating. If so we are proclaming OOT is the greatest game ever (which it is for the adventure genre, but does not cross over to the greatest JRPG ever). And even by your logic, Xenoblade is still one of the highest rated JRPG's ever. Nothing can take that away from the game. That said, how is XIV one of the greatest MMOs? It's not. Not by a long shot in sales, and not by a long shot in ratings. |
jajaja first of all, wether you like it or not, those games are for the same genre. Besides, i dont use meta to measure the quality of games, i was talking about your own logic to show of flawed it is, i mean, i dont even really care about whats is the "best game ever". I just enjoy the double standars issues in thise site

It's still one of the highest rated jrpgs of all time... How did you prove double standards exactly?...

Not that I want to get into this discussion, but I just want to say the 83% on the PC version is probably more accurate than the 86% on the PS4. It is only in that context that the game will be truly compared with other MMORPG's as the PS4 doesn't really have much in the genre and just being a succesful above-average MMORPG on the PS3/PS4 is enough to inflate its score.
From what I've seen among MMORPG communites (which I frequently participate in) the game is considered above-average and good for people who want a solid PvE experience throughout the whole game (end-game still needs more content, according to these people.) People have mentioned that the PvP doesn't really reward people however and there really is no reason to do it other than for its own sake. The economy is also not as detailed or interactivve as other MMORPG's. Basially if you are looking for a great PvE experience then it is the game for you. If you're looking for a game where the main-focus is somethng else, then look elsewhere.
I just want to say that unlike single player games, there isn't really an easy way to compare a single MMORPG with others, as they can target very different audiences and have different strengths. All of the reviews I've read seem to take this into consideration and ONLY review the game on its general merits (graphics, leveling, controls) rather than give an accurate description of which types of players will like the game, but telling WHO will like the game is crucial for any MMORPG review.
