People may not like MS. but this hololens is pretty impressive. the future is bright.

and expensive! I can only imagine how much this thing will cost. Sure, you may not need a phone or PC to use it but that just means that HoloLens theselve would need to have that packed into the headgear. Hopefully there is a cheaper PC/Phone/Tablet-required version for us poor people.

it looks impressive and i got iorn man feels form some of the things shown in the video. and the fact that its supposed to come out this year i believe is really impressive.

They said within the windows 10 lifetime or timespan or something. Which means it'll come out somewhere between now and the release of windows 11.

Why? Our game consoles, TVs, phones, cars, and watches, are all already computers. Why do we also need big, dorky sunglasses that do the same thing? Just like Google glass, this makes no sense to me.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

What would be really impressive is if it works as intended once it's released.

they did a hands on demo on stage worked pretty good  granted it was just one app

That doesn't mean anything lol.

You can see images in 3d and manipulate them with gestures, it could be very useful for engineering, 3d modelling etc. But beyond that i'm not so sure.

I imagine it'll get porn eventually.

Until they prove me otherwise, I am classifying this under the "World's Fair Tech" heading: cool to show off but little practical use or advantage over the standard. The Kinect was mostly like this with its inability to provide a means to navigate full 3D space like the move and Wii. It's cool but lacks a purpose and utility.

Will wait for 1st hand evidence. But put me on the hyped list.

FYI: Google glass was a flop, dumping the entirety of windows 10 into it doesn't seem to be any better of an idea. Even if Windows 10 was designed around a holographic ui, which I doubt it would be considering they aren't mainstream devices yet.

You are aware this is nothing like Google Glass right? Not the same thing one bit..    Yes..  Google Glass had some AR functions.. but that is about it.

And second.. Google Glass was a flop? It hasn't even had a consumer release yet. The Explorer program was meant for DEVELOPERS only and the devices was only available for "regular" people to buy for a few short months..  even still they stressed that it was NOT a consumer device yet.. ($1500 price tag)...

X1: 55-65m
WiiU: 20-30m
