Not really... Like what Sony PCs
Sony's PCs market share is like nothing compared to others; 10 years ago maybe it has some legs but not at all today. This is a sad thing by the way...

| KhinRunite said: I'm terribly confused by the article...Minecraft was already hitting big numbers before Microsoft came into the picture. I don't understand why any of this needs to be written. What I'm curious about is what happens to future installments and spin-offs of Minecraft? Will they be MS exclusive products? |
Microsoft did not buy Minecraft to make it exclusive. There is actually no point of doing that for them.
Now, I can definetly see some spin-offs being exclusives to Xbox/Windows platforms.

You do know right that Minecraft will easily make 2.5 billion.

i lol'd. +1
An M$ game can sell more than Sony's own games on their own platform. Generation over, M$ won! A nail in the coffin would have been if the game shows Microsoft Studios logo as soon as the game starts.

Not from here on out, it won't. It would have to sell another 250 million or so. I don't think that will happen. Ok, let's be optimistic and factor in merchandise, so we cut that in half. Would still be 125 Million copies to sell on top of what already sold. Seems unlikely to me.

It's not just Minecraft. There's also Mineraft: Story mode which I can assure will bring in a good penny. Not to mention what would happen if Minecraft somehow made it into the 3DS.

I agree the article is obviously clickbait. But, M$ is now getting 70% of the income from Sony's top selling product. So, they basically get $3 or every $1 dolar Sony gets. in most cases, the gamer that plans to spend that money was going to buy some game. Now, instead of it going to a first or 2nd party studio, it goes directly to M$. In any case Sony was getting that $1, now M$ gets $3. Of course, it cost M$ an arm and a leg to get it though... or i guess pocket change for them. |
Yeah it cost MS over 2 Billion and it will still make Sony Millions for doing nothing.
Yeah of course MS will get more revenue, but its there game so they should. Weather the Mincraft train will keep rolling long enough for them to make there money back is yet to be seen, but it more than likely will.
