its obvious from your various posts, you are now the official "DDR3 is more expensive" guy.  You have beat that dead.  See Bold above^^^

Point is, these arguments are based on guesstimates of what the cost to manufacture, package, ship, advertise, warranty.  How can we really know?  So, you guess one number and they guess another.  You have to just accept that there is no "winner" in these arguments.

I agree.  Only the number he is using is being used out out of context.  The original number didn't include those fees which are including to calculate profit/unit.  The original number wasn't a measure of profit.  The $396 was just an estimate for the cost to make and produce the system itself.  So the math is invalid.  You can't use numbers for manufacturing costs and use that as profit.  There is a lot more to profit than manufacturing costs alone.  He's taking other sources and using the information out of context.

Quoting:

The total cost of the Xbox One to make and produce is $471. By comparison, it's $90 more than the PlayStation 4, which totals $381 in production costs. The Xbox One's Kinect carries a $75 price tag of production, not nearly at the $100 mark estimated by gamers, but it's close enough.

The problem is that your quoting a source that itself is a guesstimate.  Either way, that info is well over a year old.  I do agree that the match being used on all ends is pretty bad.  But, even if you aor me sat down and put enough time into making a more accurate depiction of costs, we have to use a number of guesses to do so.  That's the most annoying thing about these discussions, nobody is really right or wrong.  It just comes down to what they think.

He's using that number as the only thing to calculate profit then saying it's profit. That number has nothing to do with profits it is only manufacturing costs. If he said estimates I made out of me rear-end, that would be different.

They lost almost half a billion dollars in the first 8 months, ever since then I know the sales increased drastically, in terms of popularity the xbox one is a success, financially, I don't know, Ido know that the whole xbox live servers and all that costs a pretty penny to maintain.

They're also making $2 billion a year (at the very bare minimum) on Xbox Live Gold subscriptions right now.

too early too tell, while xb1 is selling better its marketing , promotion and price slashes and bundling are quicker than the 360 so i guess its losing more money
we will open this discussion in late 2016/2017 imo

Question, when Microsoft states that their gaming division loses such amount of mney des that include Xbox Live memberships income? or that's a separate division?

Factually and financially a massive failure.

Fans can best argue opinions on trivial success.

It's included.

Heck for a while they even included Android royalties to cover up Xbox loses.

Foolish fools who foolishly look like fools by their foolishly foolish opinions.
XO is selling LESS than it's direct competitor, the PS4. Therefore Xbox One is a complete and utter FAILURE. Tracking above X360? Bright future with Windows 10? WHO CARES! A console can only be considered successful when it outsells its competition, otherwise it's sales are CRAP and the console, along with it's failure half-assed games, also becomes CRAP!
[/sarcasm]

Nah, XO is doing pretty well and if Microsoft keeps getting stuff right it might be able to outsell X360 (which sold really well) as long as they can keep the XO tracking over it and increasing the gap. It'd be nice to see all those "hurr durr xbox one will only sell 30/40M lifetime it's a failure no one likes it hurr durr" predictions totally crushed. It's a nice console and deserves big success (at least in my opinion) :)

Fuuny is that your first rant actually explains what your second paragraph is.

How come? I don't get it. The rant was a generic (yet exaggerated) "hurr durr xbox sucks hurr durr" comment Xbox haters typically say around the internet. My actual opinion is "It's doing great, and I hope it performs even better and put the naysayers to shame!". I don't think Xbox One is a failure nor crap in any way, but rather the opposite.

(Keep in mind it's almost 4AM here so I'm not thinking very straight lol.)
